Community Events Committee Meeting: 10.25.2010

So, I am coming to you guys with this plan, so you can help shape it! I want this to be a community effort..

we have decided to help fund charitable giving from the EF community. We would like to have 3 people serve as representatives of this community, and adopt families. 3 reps for Thanksgiving each adopting a family in your area, and 3 for the Christmas holidays each adopting a family in your area.

So.. we will give the initial money for each - like $150 per family, per holiday. the community rep has to find the agency, coordinate, then send us their info - we then send the rep the money and they get to do the shopping and helping the family! And share with all of us about how it's going.

Annnnd to make everyone feel empowered - we have kicked around the idea of matching 50 cents to the dollar of every Eden Point you donate towards the Eden Community Gives Back program!

So.. I googled for Philadelphia, for example - just the phrase "Adopt a family Philadelphia" and found a few organizations.

I suggest doing the same, if you're interested.

Any ideas for how to make this as much of a community-centric giving campaign as it can be? less

That's actually a tough one that I was thinking of just now - how to tie this into the sex toy aspect. I'm not sure if there's really a way, but I would think that just showing that we're helping out means that we're not only sex positive, but human positive too. less
