It's only bad luck if your in a horror movie and even then your safe as long as pure and virginal....which means if we are in a horror movie we are going to be the first people to go

While it certainly was for the Knights Templar back in 1099 or whatever it was when the King Philip ordered them all arrested and executed, (one theory for origin for the superstition), not today. See link.

My father was born on Friday the 13th and my parents were married on Friday the 13th so it seems to have been a pretty lucky day for them.

I've never been a big believer in Friday the 13th being unlucky. My mom is pretty superstitious about it, but I have a hard time deciding if she thinks it's really lucky or unlucky because if she really thought 13 was unlucky I don't think she'd have moved into a house with a house number of 13.

Well, today it has been storming and I lost power briefly this morning, but I don't think it has anything to do with the date.

No on actually knows where it came from. There are many different theories so here are a couple.

One is that it is tied to the mass arrest, of all the Knights Templar in France happened on Friday, October 13, 1307.

Some think it is because Jesus was crucified on a Friday and there were 13 people at the last supper.

Some say that it is not based on any particular event, but just that both Friday and the the number 13 are generally considered unlucky.

I just read on wikipedia, that in addition to the Knights of the Templar, there is a theory out there that says it is due to Norse mythology.

Friday was actually called Frigga, who was a goddess of love and fertility. When the Norse and Germanic tribes were converted to Christianity, Frigga was condemned as a witch and banished to the top of some mountain.
It is said every Friday, she would convene with 11 other witches, along with the Devil-- making a gathering of 13 every Friday. They were said to plan accidents, deaths, ill-fated incidents for the upcoming week on Friday.

Hence, Friday the 13th is spoooky.

I probably butchered it. But if you wikipedia it, it's on there and very interesting stuffs.

I'm only superstitious about things I think should be avoided to begin with. (walking under a ladder doesn't strike me a particularly safe and who wants to deal with a broken mirror?!) Friday the 13th just isn't one of those things.

Lol No, I don't believe in it and I usually don't even think about it all day like most. My twin was over this morning and ended up staying all day because we had another tornado scare, but thankfully this time was only a scare. But, with it being fr. 13 and us just having 3 tornadoes, the whole area was in a panic. Lol. My twin wouldn't leave my house. I finally said F this and went to sleep. I was exhausted anyways. Nothing bad ever happened. I did have a tiny car thing happen when me and the BF were leaving from being with friends tonight. My car wouldn't switch gears and the transmission fluid thing didn't come on saying "check" until 3 times after the thing kept popping. I don't have a clue what happened, but we're going to find out and pray that the transmission fluid does the trick and that there wasn't any damage. I just had my car in the shop for other crap going on.

Anyways, other than that & people saying I was screwed since the day it was, nothing bad happened. It was actually a much better day than I'VE been having.
