We always have candy and attempt to pass it out but unfortunately we get fewer beggars each year and last year I think only 1 or 2 kids came down our street, but the ones that do get treated to the big candy bars and more of them since hardly any kids come down our street. I think they don't bother with our street because most of the people don't hand out candy and our house is half way down the street, so there's not much of an incentive to walk all the way down our street for just 1 or 2 houses when there are streets in our neighborhood where every home is handing out candy.
My boyfriend and I did last year and we had a blast doing it. We lived in a pretty kid heavy, formerly military neighborhood and there were lots of families that came by. We just threw on Rocky Horror and sat and waited for the doorbell to ring.
This year though we're in an apartment building, and I don't think anyone's going to be trick or treating. We're going to ask a friend if we can go to his house and hand out candy, lol!
It seem like every year less and less people pass out candy. When I was a kid almost everyone passed out candy. Now most people hide inside with the lights off!
We don't have many kids in our neighborhood anymore. They've all grown up or parents are too busy to bring them out. Regardless we still have a bowl at the ready, even if there's tonnes of leftovers.
Yeah :/ but last year we had like, 10 kids come to our door. I think it's because my apartment building has been named Heroin Hotel due to the drug activity that goes around here so the parents keep their kids from my door incase they think they get needles.
I've handed out candy in the past, and only candy, but I can't say I blame those parents, the buildings past definitely affect how many kids I get each year.

Yes, until we run out of candy and then we turn off the lights so we don't have to keep apologizing.

Absolutely. If we're even home, but usually we're out taking the kids trick or treating. What's the fun in hiding with lights off? I'd much rather be passing out candy than sitting inside with the lights off. Well, I'd rather be out trick or treating with the kids myself, but if that weren't our rituals, I'd be giving out candy and not hiding out inside with lights out.
We usually do but this year we are going to Halloween Horror Nights @ Universal Studios. It's something my husband has really wanted to do for awhile so I finally agreed.

WE always pass out candy. My mom dresses up as a witch and has a cauldron with a bowl in the middle. Below the bowl is some dry ice so it looks like the cauldron is smoking.
I'm probably going to pick up a bag of candy in case a few kids do drop by, but I doubt many will make it down to my house. Seems like anyone who does go trick or treating would go somewhere else, I don't live in a suburb or anything, and there are no sidewalks and narrow roads around here. Just not safe for anyone to walk around.
