In an ideal world--Thanksgiving and family togetherness. In my world--right now, neither one.

Right now neither holidays just haven't been the same the past few years. I never have looked forward to Black Friday I was either working or broke so couldn't go out. I also find it funny that people fight over crap that they didn't have on Thanksgiving and they gave Thanks for all they had the day before but go out an be greedy the following day. Not saying everyone is greedy when it comes to Black Friday but some people get WAY crazy over stuff that they have on sale.

It makes me sad that so many people/places completely skip over/forget about Thanksgiving and go straight from Halloween to Black Friday. I'm saying to make a huge deal out of Thanksgiving, but it should at least get some recogniton in my opinion.

Definitely thanksgiving. I'm pretty sure I'd rather set my hair on fire than go out to the big shopping crowds in the middle of the night.

I have to work on Turkey day and it is triple time. Since my family isn't big on getting together on Thanksgiving my daughter and I usually go and help feed the homeless..

What's scary is that while there are the stores opening on Thanksgiving evening for shopping, now several stores are opening on Thanksgiving morning. I hate that it ruins the holiday for their employees and then dilutes it for those coming out to shop.

That is an awesome thing for you to do. That is truly a way to show you are thankful for what you have. I too have to work part of the day on Thanksgiving, but we don't get a penny more. No OT anymore in my business.

Don't you think that it is the family that makes or breaks that idea? Many families, I think, still do get together, or at least do so with friends if not family. We do both..at least with family who are in travel distance.

I worked in retail for decades. The best savings and sales are in January and July. That is when I shop and I put things away for the holidays. So I'm in the other camp.

Thanksgiving. Food and Family is definitely better than people beating the snot out of each other and employees for the hottest toy of the season, imo.

I don't really look forward to either, just having the time off work is nice though.

I dont do any shopping on black Friday. Too many rude shoppers. Too much traffic. It just ruins the holidays when you have to deal with rude people, all over saving a few dollars on some toy.

Let's see, day where my husband and I are both guaranteed the day off and we cook really yummy food vs. day where my husband and I both have to work among the throngs of rabid shoppers while worrying about whoever's watching our son since our normal daycare providers don't typically want to work the day after Thanksgiving.

I used to love Thanksgiving, and I still enjoy it to an extent, but now it's just stressful since I'm always dreading the next day.
