Christmas! I love the decorations, family, and the weather

Christmas- family, food, decorations, sometimes snow, movie traditions...

Christmas, I love choosing just the right gifts for family. Plus I love the music, wrapping the gifts, the movies, just everything.
People always seem to "pop by" for Thanksgiving. Plus I don't care about the cooking or anything and people complain about it. I could totally do without Thanksgiving.

Christmas is a bigger deal for our family, plus it's right before New Years, longer vacation usually. <3 (If I take one...haven't in many years.)

Christmas b/c of kids, so magical!

They have both turned into BS holidays. Thanksgiving actually celebrates the genocide of an entire people, and Xmas is just a BS commercialization of a spiritual event that actually happened in the summer. (sorry to be a Debbie downer, but that is the historical fact of the holidays... ).

Both are kind of stressful for me, but I do enjoy decorating for Christmas and finding gifts for people. Getting gifts is really nice too. Thanksgiving is fun because I get to do a lot of cooking, though. That's about the only part I like. Any time my family gets together, it stresses me out. Even thou mostly it's just my mom and a couple cousins. Pretty much every year for both holidays I leave in an overwhelmingly pissed off mood because my mom just had to press my buttons or find something about my life to complain about. And spending holiday time with my boyfriend's family is kind of fun, but there are so many of them it is overwhelming. But hey, at least his family likes me.

Thanksgiving. Christmas is depressing for me. First there's the weather, which is as non Christmas-like as it can be here and makes me sad because I miss the snow and lights. Then there is the lack of the big family gatherings we had when I was growing up. Then there is the sadness involved with not being able to afford to do much gifting for the people I *do* still have around me. Needless to say, it's a holiday that has been slowly but steadily slipping into the "don't celebrate" category here.
10/29/2012
I don't care for either.
10/30/2012
Christmas for sure,i love the smell of christmas trees.
10/30/2012
I prefer Thanksgiving because the food is awesome! We don't do much of that for Christmas. Christmas is more stressful and materialistic.
10/30/2012
Christmas
10/30/2012
Christmas cause there's more going on with friends and not just family.

I love them both but it's not an option. My family gets together for both holidays so I love them for speding time with them. But I love the colors on the leaves in fall for Thanksgiving and the smell of the fire. Then again for Xmas I love the snow and eggnog.

Christmas. Thanksgiving isn't very big in my part of the country.
10/30/2012
Christmas! But I never start preparing till after Thanksgiving!
10/30/2012
Thanksgiving. As much as I love Christmas, Thanksgiving is more family like to me. We sit down as a family and enjoy ourselves over dinner and don't have to worry about the stress of getting everyone something. Having to run and buy people everything just takes away. I prefer not needing a gift to have us come together. Also, Christmas is now upsetting for me since my gram passed away 4 days after Christmas last year and Christmas day was the last real conversation I ever had with her. So me? I choose Thanksgiving. I'd rather give thanks for what we do have with my family that to worry about adding in to it.

Christmas was adapted from the Pagans and turned in to a Christian Holiday. You can learn why it's in December here. So really, even though it is commercialized, it's still not "BS". And I'm not even religious and I'm saying that.

Christmas.
10/30/2012
I'm kinda surprised myself with the answer when I thought about it, but Christmas. The season, not the actual holiday - I'm not religious. It's the idea of celebrating something in the dark of winter that appeals to me. The lights, comfort and warmth of Christmas make me feel better during bleak, dreary weather. I like giving gifts but don't much care about receiving them, so I like the excuse to make things like ornaments and cookies and give them to my friends and family (I dislike the commercial aspect of gift-giving).

Before I would have said Thanksgiving, I love it as a holiday where family just gets together. But now with a toddler I would say Christmas, because seeing his face on Christmas morning is incredible.

Neither really...Holidays are to the point of being overwhelming and missing the whole point.

I appreciate your feedback... I said that it was "BS commercialization of a spiritual event." I didn't say the spiritual Christmas was BS... it's very different.

And yes, actually all holidays are bent around whatever holidays the locals celebrated, but I was referring the "CHRIST" mas... Jesus' birthday... not the Pagan holiday.
Sorry if I offended anyone or misspoke.

Thanksgiving is great for family being together; big meal
10/30/2012
Christmas..I love everything about it..the lights, candles, decorations, trees, snow, shows, and watching the kids open their presents.
10/30/2012
I prefer Christmas to Thanksgiving. Even though the only thing we do different on Christmas is naturally decorations and gifts. I love Christmas decorations which is why I love Christmas time better all though the gifts are nice but I love looking at the Christmas decorations and listening to the Christmas music. The food is the same for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
10/30/2012
I really like Thanksgiving. I like the food and I like cooking everything. I like the pressure with the relief at the end when I've done it all. I feel accomplished.
10/30/2012
Christmas!

Christmas. It's so warm.

I like them both but get more days off for Thanksgiving.
11/05/2012
Thanksgiving. Good food and time with the family, without all the stress over gifts. Also the distinct lack of religious overtones.
11/05/2012
Christmas. I love to watch my son open his presents.
11/05/2012
as much as Thanksgiving is about family, I see more for Christmas. Only my immediate family gets together for thanksgiving, but i see way more people through the month of december
11/05/2012
When you have kids it's all about Christmas.
11/06/2012
Neither. I hate holidays.
11/06/2012
Christmas, everyone seems happier overall. (And as a vegetarian, holidays all about turkey aren't so awesome.)
11/06/2012
I am all about Christmas but still make sure to celebrate Thanksgiving as well. There is just something magical about Christmas!
