Of the two I ended up preferring The Voice, but both are a little kitschy for me. I can find better singers than half of their top 10 if I walk into the local college, step into a choir recital, and throw a stone.

I'm not a big fan of reality TV. XD The last time I watched American Idol was one of the first few years it was on--it seems a little pointless now. I remember watching it last time and thinking; "How is that person winning?! Everyone hates her!" I just can't really get in to it. I don't know these people, so I don't really care about their success of failure (in most situations). I do enjoy some reality shows, like Beauty and the Geek--just because it's cute, and it's relevant to ME.

I've never even heard of the voice. XD I'm so out of the loop!

I've hated every singing-related reality show I've seen. They all seem to focus on a very particular style of performance and I personally don't like pop singers who do a billion vocal runs so, meh.

To me, The Voice has more unique singers. There are singers on American Idol that are good...but they aren't anything different (their voices are cookie cutter and there's already someone who sounds like them on the radio).

I know what you mean, there are a lot of people that have great voices, but don't want to follow that as a career.

My husband was the one that got me hooked on the Voice. He told me that I needed to watch one episode and I really did like it.
