Are you the "in theater" noise maker at movies?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
You know what I am talking about. At every movie there is at least one or more people who will cough, crinkle candy wrappers, move their straw up and down in their drink cup to create a screeching noise, tap their foot, or talk, through the entire (expensive to attend) movie. I am not talking about a cough here or there during cold season or someone quickly opening their candy wrapper...I am talking about the guys and gals who are regular theater "sound generators"!!!

Is that person you? Do you do it on purpose or do you just not care? Be honest...

Also, is there something others could say that would make you stop that behavior?

Thanks for the honest responses!

My mother taught me good movie theater manners when I was little and they stuck. ^_^

I don't talk or go out of my way to cause a disruption, but I really couldn't care less if you're upset that my candy or my drink makes noises (the general you, not you specifically).

It's a public place, people make noise...as long as it isn't a kid screaming or your cell phone going off or a ton of people screaming "LOOK OUT! He's right behind you!!!!!", I'm good.

I don't like to make noise at all, and I despise those who make a lot of noise.

No, sometimes a friend & myself will quickly comment on a trailer or something but I'm not super noisy.

What I hate is that I live in a small town full of stick in the muds and I love comedies. Others rarely laugh. It's so odd to be the only one(s) laughing in the theater.

Things that really bother me at the theater are people throwing popcorn or kicking chairs. I also hate when people clap because it's a movie, they can't hear you! lol, sorry, I had to get that out.

Nope, I tend to be quiet so I can enjoy the movie. At most, I'll make quiet comments to my friends right next to me

I personally am usually quiet during movies, but one night the movie was super boring, so I decided to give my boyfriend a blow job, there were like three other people in the theater and no one could see us where we were sitting. only bad thing is he could not stop moaning and someone complained lol..

I wouldn't let a headcold stop me from seeing a movie, but talking is just downright rude!!!

Not me, I actually go out of my way to attend movies when the theater is most likely to be empty and silent.

Kind of. Which is usually why I go on week nights and sit far away from other guests.

I'm always quiet! My mom dated a guy once who used to laugh really loudly all the time at inappropriate moments. It was awful!

Always quiet. I am however the person that yells at/throws popcorn stealthily at the people making noise.

LOL. No, I'm the opposite because I have misophonia, also called "4S" so I am extremely sensitive to these sounds myself, and avoid creating them at all costs.

The straw sound -- AHHH ! Makes me mad in the head, so does crinkling food bags like a McDonald's or chip bag. I cannot stand coughing -- it often infuriates me. I don't try to be this picky, but it's really hard to control.

Guess what else? I absolutely do not attend movie theaters. Lol. Just can't do it, not to mention I'm not big on sitting still and watching movies. But noise-makers make my head scream.

Nope. Overly loud people drive me freakin' crazy. Slurping and candy wrappers are one thing, but it's the people that talk and laugh way too loud during scenes that aren't even funny, and talk on their phones... GAAAAAH!

THIS.

I also have misophonia so I avoid movie theaters. But when I do go, which has been about twice in the past 5 years, I'm as quiet as I can be.

I usually get stuck near some jackass who loves to make stupid comments about either the trailers or the movie itself. I have ben removed a couple of times for screaming at a guy to "STFU!!!!"

No, and I think's it totally rude! Go home if you want to talk, especially for the price of the tickets and drinks/popcorn. I have told people to shut the f*ck up before, I don't care. It's ignorant. I want to hear the movie without focusing on tuning assholes out. I have been the bitch that got people kicked out before. A few weeks ago I told a group to stfu when they came in TWENTY minuets into the movie and talked. They didn't so I went and got an employee. They still didn't stfu so I found the manager and said something to him and said I wanted either my money back or tickets for the next day.
It REALLY pisses me off that they don't ID people when it is rated R, that would take care of a good bit of idiots in the movies I go to.
I just can't stand talking.
Other noises that you mentioned, you just have to get over. I try to open things quietly but sometimes it just isn't possible.
