I'm a fan of VHS but DVD's are more reliable to keep.

I like dvds. Just being able to get to cut to a certain place in the movie is convenient. I still have a lot of vhs too.

I do miss the days of the VHS where you could past-forward through anything, but DVDs are more compact and seem to last longer. I don't have much experience with blu-ray, but I think they're too expensive.

Blu-rays. I absolutely hate buying a DVD and only having it take up a very small bar on my hi-def tv. The 1080p actually projects to fill my tv screen and I can actually see the picture better.

Blu-ray. As simple to use as DVD's, barely more expensive (usually under $20), but I hate both of their loads of warnings, promos, and BS before you can watch. Shared HD releases (see: pirates) are still the best all-around, but I fear this golden age of information & entertainment will end soon...

We're definitely still in a transition phase now. VHS tapes will eventually breakdown, to the point they can't even be watched (magnetic tape). DVD's will eventually become a novelty. Sure, you can find them, but anything worth watching will be on BluRay anyway.

DVD. They don't take up much space and you can have a lot of movies on them, they are not out of date and most of the movies are available for them online. BluRay isn't something I would waste the money to upgrade to.

Yup! With almost 4000 movies already W/we won't need no BluRay I bet, it will take a long time anyway to for the industry to forget about them! ~grins wide and satisfied ^^

We don't own any Blurays, but we have 2 bluray players in the household, so when we rent things, we try to get Bluray.

I was all about the DVDs until I watched my first movie on Blu-ray (Fellowship of the Ring). I've seen it at least 100+ times, and I was seeing things on Blu that I've never noticed before. The difference in quality definitely makes up for the increased cost.

I like Blu-Ray, but I'm not willing to pay a ton more than DVD for it. When it's comparable in cost, though, I like Blu-Ray over DVD.

Blue Ray for the quality, DVD for the practicality, and VHS for the nostalgia. Overall, I voted for the practicality of DVDs.

VHS! I love that you can buy a box of them for five bucks. With my nephew running around and scratching up our DVDs... it's just more practical to stick with VHS.

The visuals keep getting better...so I keep upgrading, just for the quality.

I converted my 300 VHS tapes to DVD....another 300 to go. About that time, DVD will be dead and gone as 4K is about to make DVD AND BluRay "old hat".

No need to "throw out". Just CONVERT THEM. Takes time, but can be done "on the fly".

I have all 3 formats. But, I still like the DVD's. How many people have a 5/DVD changer? They don't make it in Blu-Ray! So until they do, I will stay a DVD customer.

I don't really buy physical media much anymore online download and streaming are replacing that. That being said I have zero VHS tapes and nothing that could play them if I did, a lot of DVDS and a handful of Blue Rays.

It's actually cheaper to buy the Blu-Ray&DVD combo they were never really that much more expensive than DVD's o_o unless the place you're shopping at just over charges xD

Where I live DVD and Blu-Ray are either the same price; or Blu-ray comes with a better deal (as not everyone in my household has the ability to watch Blu-ray it works out better for the DVD.

To answer the thread question I prefer Blu-Ray to VHS and there is really no difference between the DVD and Blu-Ray other than quality... so there isn't much point in comparing them. B|

DVD's are great for me. I don't want to even start a Blu-Ray collection because they are expensive...and they will just come out with something newer, so I'm not even going to bother until I have to...if ever. Haha.
