Do you still read Young Adult books?

Contributor: pinkpottergirl pinkpottergirl
I love young adult books, the plots and characters seem more realistic than in "adult" books and the authors are more connected to their readers. I was just wondering if anyone else feels this way or if it's just me...

I won't read a book just because it's YA, however I won't discount a book just because it's YA either.

I read books from every level. The day after I finished 'War and Peace', I read through my collection of picture books.

Some YA books are great, some are awful, but no one should discount an entire slice of the publishing market for not being "high brow" enough. I generally prefer YA fantasy to traditionally adult fantasy - it's less over-dramatic and more accessible.

If a plot idea interests me, I'll read the book, I don't care who it was allegedly written for, and there are some great authors out there writing YA fiction.

Some of them are great - Harry Potter and Percy Jackson are two I enjoy. Probably my favorite series ever is considered YA - The Dark Is Rising.

I guess some of the manga I read could be appropriate for that age group, but I typically don't read books of the young adult genre. I don't really find them relateable.

It's pretty much all I read...I just can't get into "adult"-style books. They tend to bore me.

Maybe once in awhile, but not really. I've been reading books for adults since I was 11 or 12.

I read adult books, but I will always have a soft spot in my heart of a good piece of young adult fiction. :]
