The similarities between Harry Potter and Halloweentown are pretty obvious. Flying ... more
I remember Halloweentown being a very enjoyable movie. The brooms were much cooler looking than in the HP films.

I like Twilight, but I don't consider it "good." Harry Potter actually has themes and well-developed characters.

As much as I absolutely adore Twilight, I have to go with Harry Potter. It was there with for me between the ages of 10 to now (I'm 19). It was with me through everything, and, as I young creative child, JK Rowling inspired me to write my own novels. I'm so much in debt to that series.

I've never seen or read any of the Harry Potter books or movies. I have seen the Twilight movies but my friends and I mock them all the time. They generally love HP and hate Twilight.

Definitely Harry Potter.. I can't even bring myself to watch Twilight. Shimmering vampires? Yeah, I'll pass, thanks.

Harry Potter. I didn't get into it as a kid, but I found that it was an excellent way to distract myself during midterms in high school.

I've never checked out the Twilight series as I just think I'll puke at the teeny-bopperness of it all. Gotta love HP, especially the latest movies - graphics & vfx are pretty awesome

Twilight teaches young girls to be materialistic. I've seen shirts that have been produced that reference Twilight that say things like "Forget flowers and chocolates, I want a vampire in a shiny Volvo." I mean, really?

I tried to get into the series a few years ago but I got frustrated at page 13 and stabbed Bella's name out because I couldn't stand her depressed whining.

I much prefer Harry Potter. No vampires that glitter in the sunshine and are vegetarians and definitely a lot more action rather than teenage angst.

I do not like Harry Potter or Twilight at all. I never got into the whole sci-fi scene.

HP for sure! I read the Twilight books and enjoyed them for what they were, but there's just no comparison.

Love Harry Potter. I couldn't get into twilight. I totally agree with that quote. Not only is Harry Potter an awesome series for kids, it's awesome for adults too. I wouldn't want a young 11 or 12 year old girl reading Twilight.

Just a question: Why wouldn't you want a young girl reading Twilight?

I'm really curious what you find to be so offensive about Twilight?

There's quite a bit of death and violence in HP, and I don't know how I'd feel about my girls reading HP at 12.

Also, not trying to be controversial.... I love the HP series. I enjoyed the Twilight series too. So I'm really just curious.

I've been reading Harry Potter since I was in highschool and I love it, though I am not as big of a fan as I used to be. I love a good vampire and werewolf story but Twilight isn't one to me.

Does that loosely translate to HP being worth owning and reading again and Twilight being worth reading once?

This was EXACTLY how I felt about Twilight, a friend loaned me the first book, and I read it with the thought that if I liked it, I would buy the rest of the series... I didn't.

LOVE Harry Potter though, the books are better than the movies because of the sheer lack of continuity in the movies, with all of the different directors and artistic visions. I have accosted my friends and family after each movie, pointing out how much better the movies would be if they were done with the care that was given to the LOTR series!

I was intrigued by the Twilight fad, but I have always been fascinated with magic so Harry Potter was really something. On the other hand, I don't want to be a hypocrite and say that I hate Twilight. But choosing from the two, I would take any Harry Potter movie over any Twilight Saga one

I like them both but if I had to pick it'd be HP. I love to read and once my friends started talking about Twilight, I had to see what all the fuss was about.
