Go to youtube and look for Marble Hornets. Not exactly a movie, but it should help with the scary-things itch.

Event Horizon was pretty scary the first time I watched it.

It kind of depends on what scares you, but I'd say also Ringu, Ju-On, Premonition (Asian, not the US one), Jian Gui,
High Tension, Frontier(s), Inside, and Evil Dead.

It all depends too. Are you looking for american horror movies? or it doesn't matter?
I'm a HUGE J and K (Japanese and korean) horror buff. Personally asians horror is the BEST horror movies. Well REALLY I love non-american horror movies.
Number one favorite is dumplings! It's Chinese horror, it's horror on another level.
Heres my list! (I own all of these)
Ju-On (the original grudge)
RIngu (the original ring)
Thirst (greatest vampire movie ever)
One Missed Call (original, not american remake)
A Tale of Two Sisters (also remade in America)
Premonition (not the Bullock movie)
The Eye (the original one)
Audition
...3 Extremes
Imprint (Miike's episode of Masters of Horror)
Cello
Carved: The Slit Mouthed Woman
The Red Shoes
The Phone
Suicide Girls
Reincarnation
Infection
Retribution
Also great:
Tokoyo Gore Police
Machine Girl
Battle Royale
Oldboy
Save the Green Planet!
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Live Action (aka When The Cicadas Cry)
Ichi The Killer (2001)
Kakashi
Pyrokinesis (2000)
Kwaidan (1964)
Marebito (2004)
Bloody Beach
Bunshinsaba
Cello
Cinderella
Dead Friend
Death Bell
Doll Master
Epitaph
Evil Twin
Face
Naked Blood
Noroi
DON'T EVER WATCH AN AMERICAN REMAKE OF ANY FOREIGN HORROR MOVIE! THEY ALWAYS FIND AWAY OF MESSING THINGS UP!
You can also find good movies by directors.
such as
George A Romaro
Takashi miike
John Carpenter
Guillermo del Toro
and many more!

Gonna disagree with the "never watch a remake" policy. I find that changes in and of themselves aren't a bad thing, so long as the remake can stand on its own. The Ring (American) scared the everloving hell out of me for a long time. (That said, yeah, remakes tend to not be as good as the originals, but I always give them a chance.)

Aside from The Ring, these are my favorite horror movies when I'm after a good scare:
The Blair Witch Project (I can hear some of you laughing right now, but I stand by it!)
Paranormal Activity (same goes for this one)
1408
Marble Hornets (online series)
There Are Monsters (short film, available online)
09/24/2011
If your afraid of clowns, try "IT"
09/24/2011
Definitely "The Shining" - though I'm sure you've probably already seen it.
09/24/2011
I'll also recommend Audition and Dumplings.
Not a movie, but the Disney short "Pluto's Judgment Day" still terrifies me to this day.

Okay, I take back the NEVER watch remakes. I recently seen a remake of a vampire horror movie. Called Let the right one in(Original and "Let me in". I do have to admit it wasn't a bad remake. Now, the remake for "Don't be afraid of the dark" Huge let down.

Its so funny, becasue I kinda did giggle when I read the blair witch project. I mean that movie is creepy.
Paranormal activity one and two freaked me out!! It scared me. I can't wait to see the third one.
1408 was creepy, and I think I would have killed myself. I mean the things he was seeing. It was just one odd movie.
The last two I've nevver seen. I'm gonna check them out.

I like 1408. It's pretty creepy, yet it isn't anything like the average scary movie.

1408 is a good movie because it's a psychological thriller and doesn't rely on blood/guts.

Two years ago, I was a horror movie freak, but it's been a long time, so I don't remember any good scary movies. I highly recommend the Devil's Rejects, which is the sequel to House of 1000 Corpses (not as good). It's not particularly scary, but you'll like it if you like serial killer movies.

I don't even LIKE Pluto and it scared me SHITLESS as a child. Why the hell that was on a Disney tape when I was little is beyond me. I was just fine with the other two on the tape, so I know I just wasn't being a preschooler wuss. I watched it on YouTube again recently and, yep, still freaky.
