what's interesting is that reality shows were a ticking time bomb for the networks they didn't even realize. reality shows don't work in syndication, they've aired re-runs, but no one watches them. As the number of reality shows increases, the options for shows to syndicate shrinks. it used to be that 100 episodes were needed for syndication, but with so few shows making it to their fourth or fifth season and so many reality shows taking up space, they've had to rush shows to syndication. I believe my name is earl was syndicated in their second or third season, far earlier than normal, the same with new adventures of old christine. It's only now that shows like how i met your mother and big bang theory are maturing to the 100 episode mark.

The only exception we make to "reality" TV is The Biggest Loser. At least there is some redeeming value to the show, unlike "Real Housewives" and all the others that thrive on trash and the f-bomb.

I can't stand reality tv. It use to be fine, but it's a little tiresome when most the primetime line up IS reality tv. I watch TV to escape reality!

I don't like reality TV. Are competition shows considered under this genre? The only exception for me would ANTM, I've been watching it since high school and it's a guilty pleasure.

ANTM, Teen mom/TM2/16&preg,and Keeping up with the Kardashians.. I'm not too into things like the "Real" Housewives.

Not for me, sorry.

Eh, no thanks.

I agree with that, I think 16 and pregnant is having a negative effect on teenagers

Not really a reality tv person

Not really, though I like project runway....mostly just for the clothes though. I like sewing.

I'm not a fan of most reality shows since they've shortcut around most writers and talent.
I'm thinking they're doing this just in case there's another writer's strike and they can show the writers they aren't needed as much.
Unfortunately, reality shows are cheaper to product and don't really require as much effort. Why not just make reality shows like documentaries that show real people doing work and not a bunch of idgits living in an unreal situation having surreal "adventures".

I don't watch TV, so... yeah lol

I watch a few hours of current TV a year. In the last few years, channels I used to be OK with seem to have become mostly reality TV. History channel was the only thing worth watching for me and now it's totally irrelevant. I find it odd the genre has become so popular. But as JR says, reality TV is easy and cheap to make. Many people feel a need to watch SOMETHING and, if only given one type of show will choose something in the selection.

On the whole, no. Though if they're more documentary than reality TV (like Ice Road Truckers), then I don't mind.

I said yes but only if they change it to "Scripted Game Show"

I still say reality is no substitute for a good story line...some are OK but most I don't bother with.

Definitely not a fan!

The reality is that most reality shows are not true reality. Some are close though. But I don't think there's one I enjoy.

Some reality TV is pretty good these days! I am addicted to Project Runway for sure.

There should have been a Sometimes option too.

I hate most reality TV. Most of them are far from reality, as they cast specific 'types' of characters on purpose to aid in creating certain scenarios. Plus there is so much bitching between the characters in most of them.

The only reality show I enjoy is "Flying Wild Alaska", I love the frigid, vast Alaskan wilderness! I never watch any of the other reality shows.

I like those too but not "Swamp loggers" that one makes me sad
