Unfortunately a family of mine had a miscarrage this weekend. Just been down and thinking..Is anyone afraid of death?
Are you afraid of death?

I'm not afraid of dying at all. I'm afraid of not living while I'm alive.

No, it happens to everyone.

Not on a daily basis, because it's usually so abstract and unreal. But I did have a couple of scary, near-miss experiences - I narrowly escaped serious injury or death in a motorcycle accident, and later almost fell several hundred feet while hiking - and in those moments, YES, I was very afraid. Deathly afraid, you might say.
Also, each time I've lost a beloved relative or good friend, again it becomes real and I always feel... I wouldn't say fear, but rather dread. Very sorry to hear about your friend's miscarriage, captainsgirl. What a horrible experience.
Usually though, I'm with Woody Allen: "I am not afraid of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens." Live long and prosper, everyone.

Absolutely, but only because it is unfathomable. I have pretty bad anxiety and I try not to think about it often because it gives me panic attacks, but when I get like that I just try to remember that before I was born, I didn't exist and it was totally an okay time. Dying will not be any different.

I'm not afraid of sitting in the ground. I am afraid of the act of dying, though.

I use to not be afraid, until I actually came into a near death situation. It's amazing how you can realize how wrong and delusional you are within a few moments time.

My condolences to you and your family for the loss of the child.
For me this is a topic that I feel strongly about, however to attempt to articulate my views in a few sentences or even paragraphs would not be nearly sufficient. To bypass discussion and go straight to the conclusion, I no longer fear death. We all will die, it will happen to all of us, just when is the unknown.

Yes, not my own but my family. We've had a lot of deaths in recent years.

I normally try not to think about it too much.

I try not to think about it.

If it happens it happens nothing we can do about it so why worry.

~ I know where I'm going when I go, so no I'm not afraid to die. like being born you must do the process alone. I just hope that I have lived well and have made a positive difference for others . ~

Not afraid of it, but not looking forward to it

Well stated - when you see older people who live severely restrictive even painful lives, you wonder if they would rather 'pass on'. No one knows until they get there - my father feared not dying, he did not want to live in pain or be a burden to his family.

i'm afraid of dying. i'm afraid of it hurting, of it taking a long time, of the pain i might cause others with my death. i'm afraid that i'm wasting time that i will wish i had in the end. i think, if i live long enough, i will not mind dying. i will be ready...if i live long enough. if i'm tired. if i've done things and seen things and experienced things.
i think that it will become much more important in my forties and fifties to make a bucket list. it's never too early. the earlier you get started, the more you can cross off.

Sorry about the loss in your family!! That is very difficult to work through.
I am not afraid of death and dying. I have been declared dead and thank goodness, obviously lived. This was during the whole aftermath of the car wreck. I was without a pulse, not breathing and had no reflexes.....so no, not scared but sad for those who will be hurt by my death....

A little. Afraid of what I'll miss out on with my family. Afraid of any pain that the process might cause.

sometimes yes. sometimes no

No way! I'm not suicidal or anything, but I'm actually looking forward to it. I have watched documentaries on people who have had near death experiences. EVERY SINGLE PERSON will say the same thing.. It is an absolutely beautiful experience. They all say that it was so beautiful, they didn't even want to come back to life, but they had no choice. They all say they get an overwhelming sense of peace and love, a kind they have never experienced before. Now, let's not confuse a near death experience with an out of body experience. They are two similar, but different things. It's way too much to explain here but anyone who would like can do their research. Anyway, the only thing I am scared of is dying a painful death, or even worse having to come back to life and having to deal with all the pain instead of just dying. Although it is said that when this happens it's because this person has a huge lesson to learn and this is the only way they would truly get it, they need to change for the better. Most people (if not all people) come back a completely different person. They become more spiritual and more in touch with their inner self. Well because it is, of course, a spiritual experience.

I'm mostly afraid of not living a full life.

I'm not really afraid of dying, but I do fear some long, protracted illness or injury that drags the whole process out.

Kind of. I'm not afraid of natural death...I am afraid of being tortured to death like in a Criminal Minds episode.
