All sorts of mystical stuff...

Contributor: Ms. N Ms. N
Someone asked about belief in astrology, and it made me think about other mystical things. Personally, I have been a practitioner of numerology for more than six years and dream analysis for over 20 (for myself and others) have tried tarot, and have had my palm read and handwriting analysed, in addition to having astrological profiles completed.

Have you tried any of these? If not, are you interested?

I have been a fully fledged kitchen witch for over 20 years so I've dabbled in just about everything but I have become adept at Tarot, Rune lore and visual divination using various methods including magic mirror.

Dream reading I am also adept at but my method is quite different than most taught in a book, it relys more on intuition than on a set group of symbols.

Mostly I just stick with Tarot. I've been told that I'm very good at it, and I've been trying to learn how to read palms. The general consensus among my more mystically inclined friends is that I'm powerful and talented, but more shielded than any other person they've met.

I have tried Tarot, and I like it because it's a good exercise in figuring out how I really feel about a situation and what I really believe is the most logical response.

I used to do my own form of psychic readings based on a medicine wheel. I have had some very accurate tarot readings done for me, and I once had my grandson's astrological chart done when he was a baby that turned out to be really accurate!

I have faith in a variety of things that others would call 'mystical' because of being Navajo Indian, but to me they are not mystical, they are just our reality.

I'm more a logical science person but I still like to believe a bit more in the spiritual in my free time.

Well, I am pretty close to the level of Don Juan's way to see the world in the Carlos Castaneda books, well, yep, pretty much like that - of course when a breeze blows on me for a moment it isn't only for me, it happens because of natural processes too - but I rather say that "mystical" things are just as much part of nature, "scientific truth", and they are just something much finer, harder to see, but the fact that they are hard to see doesn't mean that they aren't the part of the whole truth! ^^ (Have just mentioned the same quote in another thread, it's not accurate because I don't really remember, something like "There is the Godly truth, and the worldly truth, and they don't exclude each other!" - I think it is Descartes, but am not sure... ~smiles shy ^^ ~blushes)

So yep, I think that everything is related, Mitake Oyasin, so mystical things are just another part of the big wholeness, and we can ask the gods to help us and be grateful for it with a smile and some loving thoughts... ^^ ~blushes shy

I have had my numerology profile done by my owner. It is pretty close to who I am. Thank you for doing that for me. I should read it again for this new year.

got some tarot cards with a friend once at a local head shop. after about 10 card readings of ourselves and friends, we gave them away. it was too accurate and creepy, and felt wrong, knowing the future.

More on the scientific side with my education, but everyting doesn't have to be scientifically proven to me before I can accept it. I do wish that the times I have tried a few of the items on your list, that the results, and what I was told, wasn't so vague and wishy-washy. More specific and to the point would have been better.

They're interesting concepts to me and I like to read about them. I don't really put much belief in most of them though.

Well, how I read Tarot is not specifically knowing the future, but using archetypal symbols to make you consider a specific problem that you're having. Every card in the deck has something that can be related to general human issues, and it helps one focus on major issues.

That's basically also how I do chakra balancing - I view it as guided meditation and deep personal attention that can be extremely relaxing. Every friend I've balanced has come out of it feeling positive and balanced, and whether it's a mystical energy field or their mind reacting to a loving friend leading them into a near-trance state of total self-acceptance... I tend to assume it's the latter.

I am into Tarot, Astrology, Dream analysis and have dabbled in a little Witch craft, even tho I know I should not be messing with the Witch craft. I find all these things fascinating tho.

Used to do Tarot readings - I actually had to start charging because it was taking up time, then the interest started to wane because I wanted money for it. Seemed nobody wanted to pay for the information because it was "entertainment". Pfui - if singers, actors, and dancers get paid for "entertainment", then I should, too!

Anyway, I was always fairly accurate and it did bring up a lot of stuff that my clients/friends needed to deal with. Example: one woman's reading had a close male person being anxious about her pregnancy, and she was able to find out by asking the family. It turned out the father was second-guessing himself and they were finally able to talk about it. They were much better for it.

What I find interesting is that most folks view divination like a Magic 8 Ball ... they'll find the answers and what to do right there. I found it to be the opposite - it's to push you in the right direction to ask the right questions of those around you. Of course there's the general "feeling out" of a situation, too. In the end, for me, it's 30% talent/skill and 70% being a perceptive therapist.

I'm interested in learning more about Tarot, not because I think it's magic, but because it's like a Rorschach test for figuring out what's important in your life. Human beings are emotional and complex and the readings I've seen end up being conversations about life problems and goals. I don't think these views are at odds with science.

Also, the art is pretty.
