Are you bipolar?

I posted this before, but it wasn't private and didn't get many responses. So here it goes again. Are you bipolar? Comment for what you take if you are, I'm looking for a good medicine, doesn't seem like anything works for me.

I'm not. My sister is, but she won't take meds. It makes our family chaotic.

I take Abilify, Risperdol, Lamictal, Adderall, and Xanax. I feel like I'm missing one, but that's what I can remember off the top of my head.

Yes, I took lamotrigine for many years, but have stopped it in the past year and been pretty ok

I am for sure... got stuck in a special school for it. I've been on damn near every medication combination my Dr could think of before deciding screw it all I'm going back to my self medication of the herbal sort. Keeps me mellow enough that the mania's don't send me too far off the deep end. Just kinda figured what the heck, either way I'm dependent on something.

I am not--but my best friend is. Gabapenton, Lithobid and two more are what she takes, it works as long as she remembers to take it.

No, I am not. I suggest talking with a doctor or psychiatrist to find the right medication for YOU.

I was diagnosed as bipolar back in my teens, and they tried all kinds of medications... Lithium, zoloft, effexor, welbutrin, risperadol (I'm sure I'm spelling these wrong).
None of them really worked all that well for me except effexor, but that was prescribed when I was about 20 and the doctor decided I had depression instead...
I finally got fed up with all the drugs frying my brain (I can't remember most of my teenage years, and I wasn't one of those kids who partied), so I stopped taking the meds. I am now more stable and happy than I ever was on the medications.
I'm not saying that everyone should stop taking their meds... Some people need them. They were just really messing me up, mentally. I now take St. John's Wort when I'm moody, and that's more than sufficient.

If you're concerned about finding the right medication, the best thing to do is to work with a good psychiatrist as well as a psychologist. Together they can try you on different meds and med regiments until you find whatever works best for you.
Unfortunately, trial and error tends to be the best approach in this field.

I have bipolar... I started noticing it last year (cause they said onset sometimes isn't till your 20's) and I started to realize it was happening to me. Both my grandparents had it, so I felt like it was passed on to me now. I take lithium and mood stabilizers.

Dude, it's not even like that at all. I know you're trying to be funny, but Bipolar people usually don't act like that. People who rapid cycle are pretty rare, and even then it's not minute to minute like that. Cycles can last months or weeks. Soo, yeah, just sayin'.

I think I am but only very slightly. Not like a crazy everyday mood swing type. My wife is bipolar and has at least one mood swing a week but we work through it well. She is not medicated but instead does exercises

I would also like to add that a good session or enjoyable sex is wonderful therapy. Along with a massage afterward. I do this for my wife and it. Really does help.

Nope. Unipolar depression for me and my family in general - I only take Prozac. Tried taking Wellbutrin, but that gave me bipolar-like side effects, so uh, the psychiatrist told me to stop after two days.
