Usually, generic ends up being cheaper still than using a coupon with a name brand product, so I buy generic. For MOST things.

I make a list of items that I use on a regular basis and go through the sale paper for the week and see if anything is on sale that I use and I will get it. I will cut out coupons in the Sunday paper, but that's the extent of my couponing. I don't take it to the extreme's by any means.
If I'm ordering something online, I will type in the place and coupon code in google to see if they have a shipping code or discount code as well.

As with most, I compare the generic or store brand with the national with a coupon. I only clip coupons that for items that we normally use anyway. I agree that there is a limit to couponing and some people do take it to the extreme. To me a sale on an item I can't use or don't use isn't really a sale, coupon or not.

Because of my allergies, I can't switch brands for sales. I use coupons when they apply to what I am already planning to get, but I really can't switch things around. They also don't apply to fresh produce, which is a lot of what I buy.

I really really hate the feeling of holding up people in line behind me with coupons. I'll use gift cards, and occasional points coupons at places like Best Buy, but I can't stand the thought of using coupons at the grocery store.

I try to use coupons as much as I can, it feels great when I see how much money I've saved when the receipt's being printed. My latest accomplishment was last weekend at Fred Meyer: I've purchased a 6 qt. Lodge enameled cast-iron dutch oven that was on sale for $59.99, after pharmacy rewards, a 20% off coupon, an extra 10% off coupon, AND an instant Fred Meyer $10 gift card saving, my final price was $8.19! I think this WAS my most extreme couponing experience, and I felt great about it! By the way, I think the sale is still in effect till this Saturday 10/29.

I'm such a huge saver that I'm pretty surprised I don't use coupons, but I rarely have time to even look for them, but we'll use coupons for specific things like the ones we get in the mail that have something like a buy 1 get 1 free at a fast food place or the cig coupons. If I'm shopping for something that is a little costly, I'll check for coupons online sometimes.

I hate using coupons. I only do it if it's absolutely necessary. Usually the in-store deals are good enough.

Occasionally. If I find a coupon for something I'm going to buy anyway, then I'll use it. But I don't buy things just because I get a coupon.
