Do the Olympics make you emotional?

Contributor: laflauta laflauta
Seeing athletes finally achieve their dreams after a lifetime of training can make me tear up a bit. Do you get emotional watching the Olympics?

I'm not really watching the Olympics, but when I see it I do get a little emotional, but not for reasons related to the Olympics themselves...

I mean I don't start bawling or anything, but I do feel really happy for them.

I've only watched bits and pieces. I think it's great they are accomplishing their goals, but nothing I would get emotional about.

I tend to feel really bad when someone has a bad round of whatever. I want everyone to do their best, they've all trained so hard, and it's heartbreaking when something goes badly for them.

I watch the swimming, and for that I might cheer and yell and occasionally stand up and throw my hands in the air. I was watching gymnastics last night, and the U.S team was doing the balance beam. Kylie, I think her name was, performed on the beam so beautifully that I got teary eyed. I might clap, shout, or dance around. Watching the gymnastics portion makes me the most emotional.

I understand their feeling, having competed myself at a high level of sport, but, while I admire their dedication and hard work, the EMOTIONS the feel are "their own". I cannot get into tearing up for someone else's decisions to work that hard and have no control on how they perform.

Excited for the team, happy for the athlete who won, feel bad for the poor kid who falls off the beam...SURE. Do I get "tears in my eyes"? Nope..just not THAT deep a connection.

I don't tear up but I don't really watch any sports although I do tend to watch a bit of the Olympics and just feel stunned at what individuals can train their bodies to do.

I never really get emotional other than maybe excitement when it comes to the Olympics. I've watched it before in the past, but haven't watched any this year.
