I'm kind of a health nut and a compulsive label-reader. I avoid a number of foods and food ingredients, mostly out of concern for my health. How about you? Which of the following do you avoid, or do you just eat whatever and hope for the best?

I completely avoid artificial sweeteners that are sugar alcohols since I can't digest them and end up in excruciating pain. I also do my best to avoid partially hydrogenated oils. I steer clear of large amounts of dairy as well, since I'm lactose sensitive. I prefer not to eat anything with nitrites, GMO ingredients, or HFCS but I'm not as strict about those.

Usually I try to avoid sugar, carbs and trans fats. Doing this helped me lose 70 lbs. and it kept my blood pressure and cholesterol in check.

I avoid all that stuff. I spend a lot of time in the grocery store reading labels. Sometimes when my man shops with me we end up with stuff with questionable ingredients, but overall I'm very health conscious. I also avoid Carageenan and Aluminum Phosphate.

I only pay attention to mushrooms as ingredients. Otherwise it is fair game...I usually cook from scratch anyways--so processed foods are pretty few.

I am allergic to raw dairy, so I have to be careful. Also, due to an ulcer, I have to stay away from pork & red meat.

I only stay away from milk and most shellfish because I'm allergic to them. I won't purposely avoid any other ingredients, or else I'll end up with nothing to eat; I believe a balanced diet is good enough for me.

I don't avoid any ingredients, and just try to practice everything in moderation. If I cut out everything they say is bad for you, there wouldn't be any food left.

Cooking from scratch is the way to go--if you enjoy it and know what you're doing. Good for you! I don't enjoy cooking much so I eat far too many processed foods. But I avoid as many known risks as I can. It seems like every week I find a way to improve my diet.

I do not totally avoid all of those, but do avoid some when I can! I'm highly health-conscious.

I read the fat, calories, and fiber but not specific ingredients
