I do believe. Suggesting that life and intelligence are an accident of physics and biology is a great leap of faith in and of itself. I don't believe that evolution or science in general conflict with religion at all.

No way! Evolution has already been proven, and besides that, a higher being? F-that! There is no old man in the sky that is "making us" in any way or controlling us for that matter! To think that is just........Stupid! I believe the bible is a child's book that some one found a long as time ago cuz the stories that are in there are a little far fetched for an adult to believe in. Plus there are millions of people that go in to church every sunday thinking that that your gonna be saved if you listen to some crackpot old fool reading a lame ass book! Sorry...but that's my honest opinion. There is no "God", there was no "Jesus", and there is no fucking "Devil"! Also no ghosts!!!

How very rude to say people's beliefs are stupid. That is what I hate about any time things that have to do with God being brought up on Eden people can't seem to respect other's beliefs. Are we not adults who can be respectful and not be hateful just because every person doesn't believe the exact thing we do? How pathetic. I am appalled that you reacted so hastily toward people who may believe in God. It was a question of whether or not you believe, not a discussion of how stupid and childish someone is for whatever their beliefs may be. That kind of crap should be taken somewhere else, not on EF.

Why, oh why can't we ever talk about this without totally trashing those who don't believe in the same way we do? THAT is the behavior of a child.

Now, I hope everyone else can carry on and make this an interesting thread. It could've been and still can be. It can be a discussion where we discuss our DIFFERENT beliefs without trashing each other, but simply LEARNING from and about each other.

You, Abomadong may believe there is no God. That's fine, but do not trash people who do. Please. Just because you believe in God does not mean you believe you're saved through listening to "crackpot" music and going to church. Do you even know what Christians believe? The bible says you are not saved by your good or bad deeds, but by believing. That is how us "stupid," "childish," and people who read lame a** bibles believe. Most of us who are Christians anyway.

You are right in the sense that God does not control us since he does give each and everyone of us free will to choose our way of life. The way you express yourself in such anger and disrespect I feel pity for you. I'm sorry you don't know what love for God is like.

Well, that does actually sound quite stupid. Being saved for believing? So ... say a murderer believes in God (as quite a lot of criminals in the US penal system do), they can get into heaven - just because they believe? Wouldn't you rather people get in because they're good people? And, also, isn't it more than a little ridiculous to say that you'll be going to heaven at all? How many denominations of Christianity are there? And don't they all (or nearly all) say that you're going to hell if you don't believe that specific denomination?

Dong, the theory of evolution concerns itself with how animals evolve. It says nothing about any gods.

If there's an afterlife, I'll most likely be going to hell (and if not, I'll request it). I'll be seeing the rest of you there.

I don't believe in any higher power. My parents never really forced me one way or the other, they just kind of let me pick what I wanted to believe.

Eh, I'm an agnostic apatheist. I don't know whether a higher power exists, nor do I really care. Such things do not affect the way I live my life.

Please be respectful of others beliefs. If you cannot discuss things in a mature fashion, please do not participate at all. Thank you!

Let's keep the discussion healthy, folks. There is room enough for all beliefs at Edenfantasys.

Additionally, please stop flagging Abombadong's post. Once is enough, flagging multiple times does not make it any more or less offensive.

Thank you!

I definitely believe in God and am a Christian. I also believe that there is enough room on earth for everyone and that we should be tolerant and forgiving towards each other--whatever our beliefs.

This is my thought exactly! This is why I always leave the link to a Grim Reaper song. link

I respect that others believe. However, I think religion is pure evil. Nothing has caused more destruction than religion. I believe it was originally thought of to scare us when we were primitive. Giving us the idea that there is something to fear, the "afterlife."

I truly believe there is no god. It's all a made up story that was well written. So well that it still has followers.

It is well proven that there was indeed a Jesus and it is THE Jesus written about in the Bible. While it is certainly your right to believe as you see fit and if this brings you comfort then so mote it be. However, I would lovingly point out that they seem more angry and vitriolic than peaceful; your beliefs.
If you find peace in the idea that there is no God then let go of your anger and show the peace inside of you...it is a much better shield to prejudice and thought control than anger ever was.

I've always thought this was a good quote, and pretty well sums it up for me:

“I would rather live my life as if there is a god and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.” ..Albert Camus

I do to an extent. God for certain? I'm not sure. I definitely believe there is something after death. I have seen and believe that our loved ones still watch over us after death.

*Snorts* Bloody marvellous, Beck!

I agree. People should respect others' beliefs. However, something of such great importance should not be held above reproach. For good or bad (I, as you, believe it is bad), religion has played a very large part in our culture(s), and as such it should be open to criticism.
