I do shop in thrift stores for a few reasons, I like styles that were popular in the 70's and 80's and I love finding unusual styles of clothing. I like to support the charity that runs my local shop, and I also like shopping there because I like to use found items and make them my own one of a kind thing

I shop at all but goodwill.

when a CEO makes 2.5 million in a year off selling items that are given to him for free, and doesn't pay his employees much...lost my money.

I don't usually shop at them, I feel like I never find anything I like in my size.

Sadly, what is left? The Salvation Army is very much anti LGBT. Perhaps the independent thrift stores are a better choice. However, how their employees are treated and their views on topics such as marriage rights would be unknown. Doesn't really leave much left.

I love thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets!! The bargains you can get on like new clothing, books, antiques, some furniture items, toys and other goodies is phenomenal!!! Making my money stretch farther than it should really does give me peace of mind--and I love that while I am dressed nicely and with style, no one else is going to look like me!!!!

There are 4 thrift stores in our area.
--Safe House Savers (abused women and children).
--Thrift of Hope (breast cancer).
--Commodity (senior citizens).
--Fancy Furnishings (animal shelter).

I thrift for dresses that are no longer. I like styles from the 40s-60s. We've got great shops like Trunk & Disorderly and Grime that really fulfill my needs.

I love thrift shops for many reasons. Number one, I'm broke. Number two, you can find some really good stuff if you dig hard enough

We often find our kids' clothes at thrift stores not because money is tight, but because they are freaking hard on clothes! Our boys can successfully destroy a new pair of pants within 2 weeks of purchase. By supplementing their good/school clothes with thrift store clothes, we don't have to worry so much. Money would be extremely tight if we decided to get them all new clothes every time they ruined something!

I do shop at thrift stores. I like to buy my books there because money is tight and they're cheaper there. I also like that I can support the charity in the store.

Do we really have to get into the politics of organizations that helping people? Do you have things made in China by prison labor? Do you have clothes made in Bangladeshi sweat shops?

The Salvation Army has provided help and assistance to millions of the needy for 100+ years. You don't have to agree with everything thing they do.

What happened to tolerance for other points of view?

I love shopping at thrift stores. I'm in the process of moving into a new apartment, so the thrift shop is a great place to buy small appliances and household accessories!

I shop at thrift stores all the time (mainly Goodwill). A huge portion of my wardrobe came from thrifting.

I collect teacups, so I love to go out thrift shopping and to antique stores (which around here are similiar). Single teacups with a saucer aren't that expensive. I also like looking for other household items and candles. I'm very small so clothes don't usually fit me, unfortunately.

I have found some cute shoes from thrift shopping in the big city though.

I love thrift shops! Even when money isn't tight, I love looking around to see what I can find, especially books. A lot of books from my childhood are out of print, so it's sweet to wee one sitting in a thrift shop for a buck

There is a difference between disagreeing on politics, Gunsmoke, and an organization that supports my own equal rights being stripped from me.

If an organization helped fight against your right to be married to your wife, you may question your allegience to them, too. Why give power to something that wants to hurt me? There are so many other just as good, if not better, non-profits that both help people and manage to do that without being anti-me.

I'm broke and I have two kids to dress. I can usually find some nice name brand stuff so they don't have to worry about getting teased, and it's cheap. Plus, I hate buying new things and I hate things being thrown out. It also saves me from having to worry so much about bad corporate ethics.

We always shopped at thrift store growing up, and I hated it. I always felt really dirty after going in and I was upset that I never got anything 'new'. In my area the only thrifstores nearby were expensive boutique-y ones or huge Value Villages etc with no changing rooms.
Nowadays, I do go occasionally. They're awesome places to find cookbooks, and I can sometimes find clothes that work for me. I still take an hour long shower after leaving though x_x

I do at times, when looking for unusual Halloween theme props.
