Do you peek?

Contributor: (Re)tired Stripper (Re)tired Stripper
I am always torn. I used to be a peek-er. I'd carefully unwrap gifts and tape them back together. I'd also find my mom's hidden stash of unwrapped gifts for Christmas OR my birthday.

My SO used to be notorious for leaving his receipts in the grocery or mall bag with other stuff out on the counter (presumably for me to put away or to be left there until company was to arrive and then he'd MAYBE tidy, haha). I COULD NOT HELP myself and I'd always peek! I would feel remorse afterward though, and feel sad that I had to fake the surprise so usually I'd own up to it.

This year I've been so good! No peeking at all!

How about you? Please choose if you peek or not, and then also choose if you feel bad about it or not!

I want to then feel like I would waste the surprise so I don't. I used to years ago but am more excited about the presents I am giving now.

Interesting subject. Master had sent me a package in the regular postal box but didn't bother to wrap anything. But I couldn't just leave the postal box alone - they're supposed to be opened! So ... I ended up sealing it in gift wrap with a bow. The ingrained reflex to NOT open wrapped packages until Christmas kicked in and I'm able to live with it being unopened at this time.

Although the customs slip let me know there are a purse and ornaments inside, but I still don't know what they look like. ^_^

I've never peeked, even as a kid. I don't really know why. I just didn't dare lol. One of my cousins always did though.

As an adult, I still don't. I think now it's in part because I'm pretty close with the portion of the family that does the exchanging of gifts thing and for the most part, my gifts are specifics off a list. I want a pair of boots, I give them a brand, style, color, size and location of purchase. They do that. Or else it's something they've observed me needing that I'm just happy to have in general. I kept getting lost, someone got me a gps. That type of thing. Those are nice surprises, but still not really the sort of thing that tempts me to peek. Plus I'm a bad faker, so I don't think I'd be very good at acting like I didn't know exactly what was in the box.

I've never really gone out of my way to open stuff up and peek, but if it's out I'll take a gander from time to time. I always feel bad about finding out what stuff is, so I try not to peek, but I have this problem where I have to know like, everything about everything so I either have to know everything or absolutely nothing most of the time.

I've never wanted to peek. I've always loved the thrill of opening up a true surprise, so I've never wanted to know. Especially with Christmas gifts, I didn't even want to open them until Christmas morning and ruin the whole ceremony!

My brother and sister were always NOTORIOUS for peeking, and I refused to join in. I was usually the one tattling on them.

My entire family is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad about keeping a secret that I usually don't have a chance to peek! Arch loves to give all his gifts early because he hates to wait BUT gawd forbid you give him his early!! LOL
Sigel is like a schoolboy when he has gotten someone a gift so it would really really hurt him if I peeked...he'll probably tell me anyway because he is so bad at keeping a secret about gifts.
My kids are the same so I really try not to peek and wait patiently but it is SO painful!

Even as a kid, I couldn't resist, and I never got out of the habit! I would go as far as learning how to wrap gifts REEEEALLY well, and would take pictures on my little keychain digital camera so I could rewrap it just like my mom had it before, if I had to unwrap more than just an edge! My mom thought she got smart when she would put it in another box, but nope I'd just unwrap the whole thing!

I am just as bad at keeping gifts a surprise, I actually have to wait until the week of Christmas to shop just to keep it a secret, and it's still 50/50, and I'm no good at knowing someone else has a secret!!!

My guy labeled a folder in his email with "[my name] cannot see," and then told me not to look in it. I wouldn't have known about the folder if he didn't say anything.... of course I couldn't help but look in it for the presents he ordered. Fortunately, only one of them was in an email.

I keep bothering my SO and my friends asking them what they got me but I know they aren't going to tell me. I wouldn't want them to, either! While it kills me to wait for the surprise, I'd rather have to wait for the surprise than to know now and not be absolutely positively thrilled when I open my packages.

I've been REALLY GOOD this year and I haven't peaked...

on the other hand I know pretty much everything I'm getting because I was there when it was being bought. It kind of takes the fun out :/

I'm too curious for my own good. It's really difficult for me not to peek, but I've managed to avoid it this year. Sadly, my partner used my EF account for some of his gift purchases, so the email came to me. I also had some pending orders, so when I got the order notification email, I opened it without considering it might be his.
But I've stayed out of everything else!

I've never actually opened or peeked at a gift, but I do pick them up, shake them, and try to figure out what's inside.

I was about to post the same thing! I don't peek... because I (usually) already know. I also have no problem waiting for the surprise nowadays. As a kid, though, I definitely wanted to peek and snoop around, so I sometimes did, usually to no avail.

I don't peek. That said, we usually pick out one gift for the other to get us and that's it. The rest is all the kids. I used to peek as a kid. But then felt bad about it on Christmas morning when there was no surprise.

I never peek. I like to open one on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas morning.

I have an old friend who used to open ALL her gifts late at night days or weeks before Christmas and rewrap them. I didn't understand it. One year she got mad, because her brother got her something good and she hadn't spent a lot on him. She was angry and blamed him for "trying to outdo me." I never understand that stuff.

I don't purposefully look for gifts, but I do usually end up running across them before they are wrapped. My mom is not very good at hiding them, so I find them in closets when I go to get something I need out. My apartment is also pretty small with very little space to store things, so anything my fiance hides isn't really hidden well.

I don't have any presents so there's nothing for me to peek at. When I was a kid I used to shake them and smell them (for perfume).

I love to peak! Which also involves shaking and thinking about what I asked for. So far this year I have already figured out 4 items. *lol*
