Do you still go to church?

Contributor: Anne Anne
I haven't gone to church since my friend who last took me was really judgmental towards my way of life. If you go, what faith are you? If you don't, why don't you go anymore?

I wasn't raised in a faith that had any type of a house of worship, so I never went "regularly". Whenever a friend would ask or I'm invited to a wedding, I'd go into a church/synagogue/etc and be a polite guest.

It's rather sad when a practitioner turns people off to a faith/house of worship because they're such "perfect representatives" of their faith. I hope you can find another church to attend.

I'm somewhere between being agnostic and a total atheist. Church doesn't really "fit" me any more.

We don't go as often as we used to because we moved and don't care for the churches around us now.

I go to shul, or synagogue that is. It's important to me to go, at least on Friday nights. Saturday morning...meh. I adhere to the "rest on the Sabbath" commandment quite happily, so I often sleep in. I'm sure God understands.

I don't go to church anymore cause most people who go there are bigger sinners then I am. I was friends with a girl who pushed her religion on me so bad and tried forcing me to go to church with her last time I checked that was against the Bible and what not. I was judged for being in an open relationship by the same girl I was engaged and seeing another man which my fiance approved of. I was judged for having sex outside of marriage, but the girl was sleeping with another man while married to someone else. I have had people judge me for the way I live as well as seen a man who went to church 2-3 times a week but came home to beat his wife on days he didn't go to church. So I have no place in church with people like that. I read the words and believe all on my own it doesn't matter what building you are in or what you are doing when you read and believe.

Despite growing up with a church at the end of the block, I've never attended a service.

Yes, I don't have much of a community right now either. It's tough.

Tonight...let's just say, it's only Monday, and I feel like I could use Shabbat already.

I haven't gone since I moved back to Lubec after I was baptised. Due to the fact that my foster mother was very Catholic, she wouldn't take me to a Baptist church so I gave up right then and there.

I don't go to church anymore. My dad used to take me to a Baptist Church when I was younger.

I was raised Catholic, albeit rather loosely...I attribute this to the fact that my parents grew up in the 60s. We stopped going to church regularly when I was in middle school, and pretty soon after that the holidays dwindled as well. I haven't been in about 4 years, and I don't miss it.
