Do you take something with you to the Doctor? (gifts and such)

Contributor: Peggi Peggi
Working in the medical field I have seen patients bring in things here and there. One who works at a dental office brings in bags of tooth care stuff, some bring cookies, boxes of candy, donuts, coffee, etc. Some do this because they are appreciative, some do it because they love to give to others, some do it because they know it'll benefit them later.

Question is: do you take anything to the doctor or staff when you visit the doctor

And the background on why you should do this if you want to be remembered, and WHY you want to be remembered: If you have the ability, visit a specialist before you need the specialist. This serves two purposes. You will have a baseline to go by if something goes wrong, plus you can get to know the staff! The guys and gals who answer the phones and schedule you need to be sucked up to! Trust me, I can tell you time after time when Mrs. X or Mr. X call up and I remember they brought me donuts and coffee, they're gonna get worked in a whole lot faster than Mr. or Mrs. O. Sure, that's not fair, but subconsciously, it happens! You develop a type of relationship with patients who do something special for YOU, and you almost treat them as though they're a friend, or special as well! You would get your friend in sooner than a stranger in most cases. So, next time you see your GYN or your dermatologist, don't forget the Starbucks or chocolates! You could use it later
