Do you use/like glass toys?

Contributor: HannahPanda HannahPanda
So, for right now I'm going to stick this topic into the 'Social' forum because I want it to be more of a discussion than about something fully specific and I figure I can get more opinions here, anyway, as people flock here more than the forums specifically set out for something like Silicone or Glass.

I have one glass toy that I bought for starters, just in case I liked it or didn't like it. I've tried using this toy over and over, especially when I'm super horny to see if the hard texture is something I can handle and really like. I want to like glass toys so much, but I can't bring myself to. With this frustration, I turn to you contributors.

I'm into softer toys, which I've found very few contributors who agree with me on. It feels sensational to go as hard as I want up against my G-spot with no qualms about damaging the interior of.. well, myself. Last night, I got ready for some play time and decided to take the glass toy out because I was really turned on. I got it about two centimeters in and the heaviness started pulling on my walls and felt like it had potential to destroy pretty much every part of me from the inside out, even if that isn't the most logical thought. It felt.. unnatural within me, I guess, and really freaked me out. It's like cold concrete, or warm if you decide to warm it up first.

So, I have to ask.

Do any of you sympathize with this? I've only run into people who love or hate glass on Eden and no one has ever really.. talked about it in detail, and I would really love to hear some of your opinions, and while some of you may be here for a quick vote, tell me why, please. I'm seeking discussion, replies, responses, what ever you may call it because I really want to understand how someone gets past something so heavy inside of them!

It may just be chalked up to what someone's body likes over what mine prefers, and I wish I could just make mine cooperate. I can't even cum without something soft, it's kind of ridiculous.

I know some shy away from glass because it's a little dangerous to be thrusting too hard for your cervix, or just because they're afraid of a new material they aren't too sure about. I, for one, see much potential in glass and just wish I could convince my body to see it, too. That may never happen, but opinions on why that may be could help me gain some insight and maybe the ability to give up on glass. Maybe it's just one of those toy materials that you're suited to love or just not.

So please, let me know your stance on glass and how you came to love it, use it, hate it, or try it out.

I didn't vote. Although I like and own a girthy, heavily textured, and g-spot glass dildo, it's not my favorite when compared to my stainless steel wand or textured silicone dildos. I am able to achieve orgasms with my glass dildo, but the sensation is just not the same.

You didn't mention which glass toy you own. Sometimes if a hard glass dildo is too thick and/or heavily textured, you might need more lube and start by playing really slow and gentle, gradually increasing the thrusting speed to let your vagina accustom to the dildo. Stimulation on your clitoris prior to inserting the dildo might make things more enjoyable too. If it still doesn't feel good, then maybe glass dildos are not for you, or maybe you can try one with lesser girth?

If you had an "other" option, I would have voted. I've only tried 1 glass toy so far and I'm not crazy about it. The one I have doubles as a vibrator and is smaller than I thought it would be. Plus, the vibrations are very weak.

I'd say other because, I haven't ventured into many glass items yet.

I was using something clitorally when I inserted my toy. My toy is similar to a wave wand and is very simple with 4 bumps and I only inserted the first before I pulled it out quickly and decided it just didn't feel good. I also used lube, but I figured I might like metal moreso and I can't explain why. Glass is just SO heavy. I was going as slow as possible when I first inserted it and let myself get used to the size, but it was only about 45 seconds I could stand with the weight, even with my hand holding it. It isn't too girthy, it's pretty slim. Maybe it really just isn't for me.

I wanted to add an other option and forgot, but I couldn't change the answers once I posted the poll. A glass toy as a vibrator sounds interesting, though.

I love glass! My Reflections: Joy is my favorite toy. If you're looking for something lighter then a glass vibrator might be the best option for you. Because it has a battery compartment in it, it's not solid glass all the way through so it's much less heavy that traditional glass dildos. The Joy probably wouldn't be a good pick because it's pretty girthy and has a lot of texture, but there are other glass vibes on EF that you could try!

I love the glass because it is so hard. I don't necessarily have much luck having a G-spot orgasm from them, but they still feel great.

So far I haven't enjoyed them. They just don't have good texture or density in my opinion. I voted "I hate..." but that's not really true because I would be open to trying another one if it appealed.

I voted I love glass, but that's not entirely true. There just wasn't any other option between love and like sometimes. I like SOME glass and not all the time. I find that my glass toys are for specific use, I have to be in the mood for them. Yes, most people LOVE and rave about glass toys to no end, but there's nothing wrong with you if you don't follow the crowd or "can't." I can relate, but not to glass. Being here, I constantly hear about anal like it's as normal and simple/easy as putting a toy in your vagina, but it is not. For the longest time I thought one day it would hit me and I would just have to use an anal toy. You could even say I thought about it so much, almost trying to like the idea of it. By the way people talk about it, it's like it's something that is supposed to happen, one day you'll decide you need something in your butt. That day never happened for me and I've recently realized that hey! Maybe anal play is simply NOT my normal. Just because every person (except me and MAYBE 2 others) engage in anal play, does not mean something is wrong with me because I cannot even begin to get comfortable with the idea, much less the act itself. My butt cheeks clench at the thought of putting something there and maybe that's because I just ain't cut out for it. It's OK.

It's so strange though that I expected to finally need or want something in my booty. I remember just weeks ago telling my partner that I just don;t think it'll ever happen. I said "but everybody does anal sex and it's weird that it's something that is impossible for me to think of as pleasurable." I told him that it finally clicked in my head that what feels good for others (even if it's almost everybody) does not, by any means, mean it's for others or will be pleasurable for others. I had no idea that I was even expecting it to happen until one day I thought "I truly won't ever desire something in that hole"

The point is, it's no big deal. You have your preferences. Most women like dildos that are realistic. I don't. I won't use them, don't even find em' attractive. I like average sizes otherwise it's going to tear me. I had to stop trying. Just because some women are able to buy a dildo of almost any size and it fit does not mean that will work for me. I learned it the hard way and wasted money on toys that have still never made their way inside me!

The way you described glass being unpleasant/painful is very similar to how hard plastic feels inside me. For the longest I assumed glass would be painful to me since plastic was, but after buying the Rotator, I decided I was fond of glass. Plastic hurts, even if it's small. Something about the plastic being in there just feels like you said, like heavy weights tugging on you. I thought I react to plastic in such a negative way because of my crappy reproductive system. I have endometriosis and my menstrual cycle is a curse. I often wonder if the plastic just rubs my insides the wrong way. I ALWAYS feel uterine pain when plastic is inside me, no matter how far. I don't know why glass doesn't do it. Glass can be super uncomfortable to me on days where I'm overly sensitive down there and it's impossible to use a lot of toys when I'm menstruating due to the pain. However, like you, I prefer soft materials on most days.

I can't go crazy thrusting with glass just any day. I find I really have to be relaxed and without any pain in order to enjoy it, and on those days, my rotator works wonders! Another thing, I hear most people talk like they can have orgasm after orgasm with glass toys. For me, I might be doing great and have several amazing O's with my glass toys, but after so long, it begins to be uncomfortable. It's all about preferences and everbody is different.

The glass Rotator has been a favorite of mine for so long. As I've explained, my insides can be so very sensitive and painful to the point of not leaving the house on some days, but the rotator is something I can use and really enjoy. There are a few Icicles that really work nicely for me as well. EF doesn't carry most of the Icicles I have unfortunately.

In my opinion, if your body is going to take nicely to any glass, it'd probably be the Rotator. I'm sure that's not the case with everybody, but I feel I'm a pretty good example here. I continue to buy glass toys, but they really have to stand out. I won't buy large toys at all. If it's textured and has a nice ball-ish end for G-spotting, I'll probably like it. I like a lot of texture though.

I think what I like about glass is that my partner can take it very slow and I'm able to feel unique and powerful stimulation from the hard nubs, swirls or bulbs. Those sensations are so unlike anything else and doing it slowly and feeling that is what I enjoy. The rotator, I get rough with and thrust because it's short and has a bulbous like end for G-spotting.

I've never tried glass and I have no idea if I'm going to like it or not. I think I would like the swirly ones but probably not the really heavily textured ones. Just because lots of other people love glass doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you because you don't like it. Maybe try a different one or just forget glass and stick to what you like.

If you think glass wands are heavy, then you should just stick with plastic or silicone toys to be safe. You mentioned that you might like metal more, but do you know that metal (stainless steel) wands are much heavier than glass ones?

I don't own any glass toys and wouldn't use them on myself, personally, but my girl does, and she thoroughly enjoys them. Yes, occasionally she prefers something with a little more give, but she does like glass toys sometimes, for their hardness and shape. And, also, they're quite pretty to look at.

Come to think of it, if your glass dildo is shaped like the Wave wand, then maybe it's the bulbous texture that's bothering you and not the weight. If you still want to try a different glass dildo, find one that has subtle ridges like the Gold laced G instead.
