As I was getting ready to go out last night I was rustling around the drawers in my bathroom and noticed for someone who does not wear makeup often I have a TON of it! Then I got to thinking..."Hmmm does the Mr. prefer me with or without make-up?". I have yet to ask him my intellectually stimulating question but I thought it would make an interesting poll.
Do you wear or prefer your Significant other to wear make-up?

It's difficult to wear most make-up when your face sweats (living in FL does this). I've learned to live with ONLY eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipstick. Which is too bad, because I like creme-to-powder foundations when I'm in colder climates.

I wear nothing - but my wife (and daughter) almost single handedly keep the cosmetics companies afloat. Nothing I can do about it but enjoy the results - they are impressive!

I'm a man, and I do sometimes wear a bit of makeup (nothing on the eyes, but cover-up, you know..that stuff). I do not like it when my girl wears makeup though. Cover-up is alright, I'm fine with that because I know that it makes her feel less self-conscious, but eye makeup? No, no eyemakeup.

I just find it hard to find the time to apply make-up. In the morning it's like hmmmm sleep in an extra 15 minutes or put make-up on? Sleep wins everytime!

Oh I am so the same way with sleep. I remember in high school I had getting ready in the morning down to a science. I could go from bed to bus in 10 minutes flat.

I have almost never worn makeup except for special occasions. My only major exception is mascara; I wear it almost daily.

I have a ton of makeup I hardly wear. Usually I just do my brows, slick on eyeliner and concealer and go. My man hates lipstick or gloss so if I do anything for lips, it's usually a lipstain marker. I love those things!

I'm usually just a gloss-n-go person (it's an addiction, lip gloss), but sometimes I'll swab on some mascara.

I sometimes leave the house without makeup - if I'm tired enough or if I'm just going to the gym - but not often. You didn't give an option for wearing makeup almost all the time.

Generational difference, Tuesday. My Mom refuses to leave the house without make up on (she's in her mid-50's). I think the younger generations see make up as more of an 'option' rather than 'part of getting dressed'. Which is too bad, as I've always looked forward to my rite-of-passage to finally wear make up. It means we're Women. ^_^

I put I won't leave the house without makeup because that is closest to correct. But I will run out for a coffee or something else quick without it on. And I almost never wear it around the house.

I will usually put on eye liner and clear mascara and maybe some shadow for my eyes and then some gel blush and lip stain with some gloss on top. That's about the extent of my make up unless it's a special occasion. Even then I'd probably just add some lipstick instead of gloss and maybe some black mascara.
I like using cover up and foundation but it just makes my skin feel itchy, I worry about it rubbing off and it usually makes me break out. So I just decided to deal with my face as is and just add a bit of make up because I think it's fun.

I rarely wear make-up, mostly only to go out all day or on dates with my husband. I did wear it a lot when I was working though. I'm not opposed to it, I'm just too lazy to put it on all the time and after a few hours of wear my eyes start burning (even with hypoallergenic mascaras and liners).

I don't think its a matter of age. In fact I think older women are more likely not to wear makeup.

Is it due to freedom for them not having to 'dress up to go out' now? There was a time when women were expected to wear hats and gloves to go out, and the expectations of that had dwindled (thankfully). Make up, at least in my family, was always reserved for 'the adult women' and you had to be a certain age before you even got to wear lipgloss in public. I know my cousins grew up not caring about it, but maybe I was different in wanting to be part of that rite.

I really don't care for lip make up...it tastes and feels like poo. Recently, Cyn found out that I don't hate make up and let herself get all girly. She now has a metric butt load of it! ...thank you Saphora...thanks

I don't wear makeup, allergic to it. No matter what it is, my skin just burns on my face like I splashed acid on it. My bf prefers me to be all natural anyway, so it's all good.

LOL - isn't there a saying, something like 'give a woman an inch and they will fill up every available space even if it's on your side of the bathroom'? At least that's how it goes in my house

I rarely wear make up, and when I do, it only looks natural and it's hard to tell that I'm wearing any. I only use it to enhance my features.

I only wear eyeshadow and eyeliner, sparingly. My partner dislikes the made-up look; in fact, he likes it best when I DON'T wear any make up at all. I think that's pretty awesome

Y'know My Man SAYS, "You don't have to wear all that war paint, you're beautiful the way you are. Don't bother." YET, if I don't wear make up, he gets home from work and starts with the, "Are you sick? Do you have a migraine? Are you OK? My God, you look pale, your eyes look funny. Did you have to take a pain pill? Do you want me to get you an ice pack?" Etc etc.
He SAYS he wants me natural, but I think he is used to the way I look slightly made up.
For years, when the kids were little, I didn't wear make up, except for special occasions, now, as I am a little older, I FEEL BETTER when I wear it. I'm Mediterranean, and have natural dark circles around my eyes, and I simply look better when those are covered up, and my eyes are accentuated, and I cover the slightly uneven skin tone, caused by pregnancies, with make up. It's just me.
I feel prettier, and I KNOW I get more looks from men and women. That's just my POV.

My wife is transgender. She usually wears a layer of foundation to cover any beard darkness. I'd love to doll her up as I have so much make-up to play with, but she's not really into that.
I just finally got her to get her ears pierced! Now she's obsessed with earrings!

I only wear make up when going somewhere for work or when going out to a show, or out for the night with my husband or friends etc. I never wear make up just for running errands or stuff like that. I just don't have time. And on hot days like today, you couldn't pay me to wear make up.
07/06/2010
I've never been into wearing foundation or any of that stuff, I've only ever worn eye makeup and lip stuff. Most days, I only get a swipe of eyeliner, not just because I'm always running late in the morning, but also because I really don't need to be prettied up to deliver car parts. If I'm going out with friends or my fiance I'll throw on some shadow and maybe some lipstick.

In case you guys have missed my obnoxious comments, I absolutely LOVE makeup. I wear it several times a week, although I have absolutely no problem walking around without it on. I see it as an art, and I love to play with shapes and colors.

Makeup is very interesting from an anthropological view.

It's cool sometimes, but that has never really been something I thought too much about!

I prefer to at least have a light, all natural foundation on before I leave the house. The makeup I use doesn't really look heavy or noticeable though. It just evens out my skin tone, and looks very natural. I like to try to look my best all the time. =)
Here's the makeup I purchase, in case anyone is interested.

My girlfriend looks beautiful with or without make up! When she does put it on it's very light so she doesn't look like a clown lol
