I don't know how many anime lovers there are, but Otakon is one of my FAVORITE conventions. I go yearly. I love it!
Over 27k attendees and three days of cosplay, picture-taking and fun.

There are a few adult-oriented things with hentai but for the most part, it's about having fun. There are kids there, in case some of you have kidlets!

I'm personally going, so I'm curious who is!

I'm definitely considering saving up some dough for this trip, especially since you're going! I hope some others will too! I've been to another con (short for convention for all you new-comers) before, but never one this huge.

Just for some added info about it:

Dates: July 29 - July 31, 2011

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Costs:
To Register: $50 - $60 USD
To Book a Hotel Room Within Walking Distance: $150 - $250 USD per night

Basically, register early, share a hotel room with as many friends as possible to split the cost, and share a single vehicle (because many hotels have parking fees) to get to where you need to go.

Wish I could, but my finances are nil. I haven't been to a con since 2004. I'll be spending the summer doing inventory and divvying up personal belongings with the ex-husband. :-/

Lol, I like anime so I usually do anime conventions. I have done Comic-Con but I was kinda bored, but who knows!

Awww that blows. But I totally understand. If you happen across a little cash between now and then, let me know. We can split hotel fees and stuff.

Yeah, I've always wanted to do cosplay. I've actually helped a lot of friends with their cosplays and they got compliments so it made me feel really good about myself. The only cosplay I did was gender-bender Luigi/sexy Luigi. I had no mustache and basically tried acting super-femme the entire time. It was pretty fun, but everyone seems to dress up as someone from Mario Bros.

I'm doing a Kyoshi Warrior this year and recycling that expensive ass costume.

None of my costume pieces are with me right now ... I had Rally Vincent (Gunsmith Cats), female Roger Smith (The Big O), Akane Tendo (Ranma 1/2), A-Ko Magami and (Project A-Ko). Yeah, I'm Old School anime fan. ^_^

Female Roger Smith, 2004. I thrifted the whole outfit, and painted the tie. The wig was from an after-Halloween sale at Wal-Mart. Don't forget the funky eyebrows.

And the lovely demure Akane, 2003. LOL I got P-Chan from an anime shop in Boston, the rest of the outfit are my own clothes, and the wig was given to me by a friend in high school.
