People tend to have strong opinions about them once they read them. I want to read them in order to have strong opinions about them too.

You can have strong opinions about them without reading them. I know I do.

It's poorly written garbage that makes BDSM practitioners out to be psychopaths.

I liked them, I don't know that I loved them.... The reviews are right about some of the poor writing. She says "oh my" so many times I wanted to punch her in the face. I also wanted the main female character to have a bit more of a backbone by the end of the series. That being said, I did enjoy the books.. I may ever re-read them at some point.

I just helped my mom download them onto her Kindle. I'm not sure these books are appropriate for my mom...she's a bit of a prude. I wonder if she'll have any questions

I read them, and I did enjoy them, but they were not even close to how good I thought they would be. I liked the story, but the writting was bad.

I don't have enough time to read them and they don't seem that interesting, honestly.

I've heard they're bad and good. Guess really it's up to you and your preferences.

STAY AWAY FROM THOSE BOOKS
especially if you want to learn more about BDSM. Those books are a horible and inaccurate representation of a healthy BDSM relationship, but a very good portrayal of a physically and emotionally abusive one.

And on top of that, the author does not even understand how the English language works.

Seriously, find something better to read. There's plenty of good smut lying around on the internet, and it's all available for FREE.

I don't ... more
I'm big into reading, and I'm even bigger into BDSM, but I can't see myself reading the Fifty Shades series. I haven't heard anything positive about them, from a literary perspective or from a kinky perspective.

I kept hearing everyone talk about it, and figured "Ehh, why not? Surely, it can't be that bad." Famous last words.

I just started the first book, and it's so bad that if I continue reading it'll only be for laughs. The writing is just-- BAD. It's like reading something written by the loner in a seventh grade creative writing class. Honestly, nobody says "crap" (much less "double crap") that much.

(Luckily, I found a PDF of it online and didn't waste the money actually buying it. )

But there are so any other… BETTER… books she could read. There's also the free stuff (like Literotica.com).

I'm not planning to read the series. I don't have the luxury to sit down and read continuously for hours (I hate reading a few pages and walk away to do chores), and not all the reviews said they're good, and I'm not into BDSM.

I'm on the third book right now...I'm in the middle on the books. I don't hate the series but there's a lot that drives me nuts. There's not a whole lot of plot...it just feels like she wrote a whole bunch of sex scenes and figured out where to put them. I really think she could have combined it all in one book. That being said, I'm finishing the series since I've grown a little attached.
