I have blue sapphires, my birthstone, flanking the diamond of my wedding ring. Garnet is my mother's birthstone and favorite; and citrine, tourmaline, and peridot are the favorites of my grandmother, who got me interested in gemology in the first place.

I love all the choices because I love stones, probably diamonds the most cuz of all the fire and colors in them when the light hits them just right. of course they need to be good quality stones & large enough to really see. I really like jewelry quality stones, but the other types are really my favorite, depending on the cut.

When I was a kid, I found a fire opal while digging for dinosaur bones in an empty lot by my house. Mind you, I live in Iowa and opals are not found in Iowa. . . I wonder how it got there. o.o But ever since then I have loved them. It was like I was supposed to find it.

I also love opalite and labradorite.

My absolute favorites are opal, fire opal (moonstone too!) I adore those! I like amethyst (my birthstone) and pretty turquoise stones too, but nothing takes my breath away like fire opals.
