I love Great Danes. That is the only dog I would consider having as a pet. Would you want a Great Dane?

Big dogs are cool and Great Danes are very handsome dogs, but probably a little bigger than I would want for a pet. That said, I'd probably consider it. My preference would be for a Boxer.

Had one and loved him sooo much! Marmaduke all the way. Use to take him to the hospital to visit patients, the nurses would ask if he would come and visit all the time. Loved kids the best and was very protective of the wife and women in general.
The only thing I did not care for was their short life span.

I would love a big dog just not a Dane. I dog sat for a Dane many times, he weighed more than me and took me for a walk!! He would try to sit on my lap or lay on it & he would crush me lol It's a 50/50 mixed emotion thing. Thor was the coolest dog though, everyone had 500 questions when we went for a walk. They are great social dogs !!

I do adore big dogs. Lots of dogs I've seen are very friendly. There are the occasional unfriendly ones that make me a bit wary about owning a dog of that size but this is something I would consider!

Not a huge dog fan anyway, but I have especially bad Great Dane associations. The teenage neighbor down the street when I was in 2'nd grade or so had one. He caught me walking home one day & tried to get me to touch his dick, threatening to "sic his dog on me" if I didn't. (I was in sight of my house so I just hauled ass.) So, Great Danes kinda bring back that vulnerable feeling even more than other large dogs.

I've always said that if I got a dog I would either get one of the tiny ones I can move out of the way with my foot or something that could take me out, specifically mentioning a Great Dane. I just want to make sure I'm in a position to make sure I can train the dog properly before I get it because it's one thing if a 5 pound dog jumps on you because it doesn't know better, but it's a completely different thing if a 150 pound dog jumps on you because it doesn't know better.

no because it´s to much money spend and i rather spend that money on me plus i think a dane is too big but if you like them you can get one everyone has there taste in things and i think some pets are cute

I love dogs and I think Great Danes are ok. I'd consider it, thought other breeds would be my first choice.

When we adopted our last dog, we considered a great Dane. I went to a rescue facility for great Danes and was amazed at how big they actually are. Wonderfully sweet dogs, but at the time they were just too big for my youngest son. They kept knocking him over trying to play. We ended up with a bagle (she's half Bassett hound half beagle).

I love dogs, and would probably consider adopting one down the line, but Great Danes are really big. I think I'd need to have a big back yard so it could run around.

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought of Peter Schmeichel, the legendary Danish goalkeeper.
But, no, I don't think I'd want a Great Dane. I'm not a fan of dogs that are bigger than I. Even my Samoyed's pushing it.
Though, to be fair, I was pulled across the ground by a very energetic, very tiny Jack Russell Terrier, so I can have trouble even with the smaller dogs.

I love dogs, Great Danes included. The thing that bothers me about Danes is their short life span, most of them usually live under 10 years.

I think they are my absolutely favorite breed! LOVES me a Great Dane. I want one all black. Unfortunately when we were looking into getting a dog, there werent any that we could adopt and surprisingly no one was selling them. They can get real expensive so we probably wouldnt afford to get one. Perhaps one day we will get one *crosses fingers*

No, they have too many health issues. Bone problems, and that sort of stuff. Too upsetting for me!
