Halloween Costumes

Contributor: spicywife spicywife
This may be a bit early, but I can't get Halloween off my brain. We're been having some weather lately that hints of Autumn and this is my favorite season. Halloween remains my favorite holiday and I have no explanation for it. I just love it. I love pumpkins and all things orange too.

Do you have any ideas of what you might dress up as, even if this post just started your thoughts on it?

I am thinking about it because it takes me that long and because if I don't then I may forget and it will become last minute and then I won't dress up which usually happens. Whew. That was a long run-on sentence.

Anyways, I mentioned to my husband my thoughts. I'm not sure what I'll wear for a top but I imagine wearing some type of stockings and a skirt. I would wear a collar that has an option for a leash and he would have that end. He wants to dress as an evil warlord and he started practicing his menacing laugh which prompted my daughter to say "you're scary!" so perhaps that's not such a good idea.

I saw these stockings and I want to wear them somehow, some where! If I can get them to stay up, which reviews hinted to be tricky.

Cool Sammi! I'd dress my cats but there is no way. We tried one time on our more calm and adventurous kitty but she was not happy with it so we took it off.

I wish we could edit posts. I'd like to add "I make my own costume" for those with superb crafty skills! I make my daughter's!

I try and make as much of our costumes as I can. The dogs deal with it pretty well . I'm not nearly as creative with what I make as I used to be - serious lack of time!

Alan's going to be Jerry Garcia's ghost (tie-dyed bedsheet, peace symbol necklace) but I have no idea what I'll dress up as to compliment that. Our pups have their own matching witch and wizard costumes, which the neighbors get a kick out of.

Interesting

I can just picture two pups in matching witch and wizard costumes.. so cute!

Besides wanting to wear stockings, I really don't know what I will be. I probably won't wear a collar with a chain because I think that would actually freak my toddler out. Maybe I will be a fairy, those are safe and not creepy

I always seem to wait and wait and wait, then on Halloween manage to get a group of buddies together that (despite a no longer childlike age) want to trick or treat, and then I have to throw a costume together. A Witch is easy, a Fairy is kind of quick, one year it was schoolgirl-punkchick-h ooker...I just took a direction and went for it, people had no idea what to guess I was. lmao, But I wore the heels all night long, and man I won't do that again.

I'm thinking Naughty Angel this year...or 50's pinup girl, but that might be hard to explain to some of the neighborhood folks...
=)

I've got all the pieces for a few ideas this year. I've still got my pirate costume from a themed costume party, I've got all the pieces for a lovely Scottish Lassie/Wench costume (depending on how revealing we make it), and the fabric and pattern for a Mists of Avalon-esque costume. Unfortunately, the latter will probably not be finished in time, as I'm currently trying to get my sewing machine repaired. So unless we get a miracle, it'll be pirate or highland lassie this year.

I love Halloween but have no reason to dress up for it.

I was thinking about Sally from "Nightmare Before Christmas", but I think I've gained too much weight after having the baby to pull it off. I like the sexy pirate.... leather corset with kick ass boots to match!

Being Wiccan, I LOVE Halloween. I might dress up as Pyramid Head again, something I constructed by myself back in 2004. Just need to tweak the helmet a bit.

Or I could do The Crow/goth again. That's very easy for me, I already wear the clothes. Just I'm allergic to makeup, even costume kind, so I can only wear it a few hours before my face starts to burn.

I googled some and found an awesome tutorial on how to make your own fairy wings. I like to be crafty so I am planning to make wings for myself and for my daughter. We can't dress scary because it will scare her and I don't believe thats good for children. She got completely spooked last year when an adult entered the library during story time for kids (halloween edition) and pranced around in the costume from Scream. She was so scared and I found out the guy was a dad and he was actually scaring one of his kids too.

Let me clarify, I don't believe being completely freaked out is good for small children but it's okay if kids understand it's not real and if they are old enough that being "a little scared" is fun.

Halloween is sacred in my house because it's so close to my birthday. I don't think I could ever love a holiday more... and I mean that!

My husband and I have actually started a Transformer costume for my son (he's gifted with a sewing machine, I just sit in the corner and yell at him saying he's doing it wrong).. I'll just put on a Witch's hat or a silly animal nose.

I found a cute little Sailor collar for my cat at target for $1 a few months back and I might have my husband make him a dixie cup to go along with it. And yes, who doesn't love a cat in a costume? I actually just did a google search the other day for my son because he wanted to see silly cats and there are dozens of Halloween sites dedicated to pet owner's and their cats in costumes.

But if you're looking for an in the bedroom costume, I've fallen in love with the Upstairs Maid.. wow, just wow.

We chose Halloween as my sort of coming out day at work.Other than going in as a female I have no clue what I'm going to wear.I can't go over the top with it but I do want to have fun but also want to make a good impression if at all possible so at this point I'm clueless and trying to decide. Also looking at the 8 hour work day on my feet as well.

My costume would be a priest robe with a demon mask. My wife said she'd dress up like a naughty nun with a collar & leash I could hold.

I just received an email from Etsy filled with costume ideas for Halloween so I'm definitely not the only one thinking about Halloween.

Here's a couple of items that I thought were neat:

Witch hat for a cat (sold out but the listing/pictures are still up and the photos of the kitty with the hat on are worth looking at!

Deluxe raccoon tail (faux)

crocheted skulls for your finger tips

Unfortunately I don't know enough people here to warrant making a costume. Last time I went to a Halloween party I was Dead Buzz Lightyear.

Spicywife, I love those stockings! It would be awesome to put them with a Moulin Rouge/Frenchy Lady sort of dress. You could pin up the dress in the front, and have it fall down the back like they do to show off the stockings.

Ahh, I love Halloween. I just bought another pumpkin candle last night, I have to stock up to last the year!

For a last minute costume idea, I was considering dressing up like a guy who just got out of bed, and likes to watch horror movies, drink beer, and sometimes orders pizza. Maybe I will also role play while wearing this costume

Although here is my idea for a funny costume: Dress up as a giant 7 foot tall white kitten (think mascot style costume), that is covered in blood and has Freddy Kruger-like claws on each paw. This would also be a great costume to wear throughout the rest of the year as well while walking around late at night

Well, I'll probably just wear something attractive and do it that way. I generally take my little sister trick-or-treating, so I put something different on just to make her happy.

i tried the typical slutty drunk college girl animal outfit last year so this year, im going for class haha i'm going as.... Venus De Milo! i bought a skin tone lacy bra from victoria's secret, pulling my hair into a bun with a french braid framing my face, black satin gloves for that no-arm appearance, and a cloth around the waist :]

most of the time I make my own since I dont find what I want in the stores. Once I dressed up like a siren another I made my own fairy outfit since the stores only seem to carry tinkerbell and I wanted to be colorful. LOL and if I do vampire its more like bride of dracula than anything else

I am going to try my hand at making my own sexy sailor pin up costume. None of the ones I like on the site, are available in my size, and do not look like they are coming back into stock.
