Over is better for your hearing than in. When you wear earbuds, you have to turn the volume up higher to cancel out ambient noise, whereas with regular headphones the volume can remain much lower. In general, the range and tonality of the music with headphones is far superior to earbuds as well.
I prefer over the ears. The in ear buds hurt my ears after wearing them for a bit. I have that problem with the bluetooth as well. Even though I prefer over the ear headphones I wouldn't wear them for exercising outdoors.
I got a brand a couple years ago and knew that music would help dull the pain. Unfortunately I only had in the ear buds. Every time I flinched the ear buds popped out and I had to deal with the brand while readjusting the ear buds.
neither, I have a pair from Nike that I love. They are like ear buds, but the piece that goes over the ear keeps them from falling out, and the sound quality is a lot better than what I expected out of ear buds. When I found these I was happy, since standard headphones are bulky and generally a pain in the butt when you are on the go, and ear buds always fall out of my ears, or make them hurt.

Those look really cool. I had a pair similar to those when I was younger but they were more bulky. Kinda like these
I used to only be able to use the over the ear kind because earbuds hurt my ears, and never really fit that well. But my sister told me about the Marshmallow earbuds and they are AMAZING! They are like earplugs, so they fit perfectly in my ears without the pain, plus they block out noise, so I don't have to turn the volume up in order to hear my music. I have slept with them many times. They are the only earbuds I can use, and the only headphones I use now.
I hate putting things in my ears. Over the ear headphones work the best for me. But they tend to be too big to use at work (or where ever I am using my MP3 player at).
