How often?

Contributor: klyte klyte
How often do you clean your house? I wind up cleaning at least some every single day and as I go, but I'm an intense cleaner(OCD) so that's probably why I'm interested in hearing in the first place. The best place to pick people's brains for their opinions is the Eden Forum!

I'm definitely not a neat freak, but I had this friend in high school that had parents who were, and it was almost creepy. The first time I went to their house, it was COMPLETELY spotless. I asked if they had just moved there. She said they had lived there for 16 years. I lost a ball off of my belly button ring, had NO IDEA where in the (reasonably sized) house I had lost it, and I actually found it!

We have a housekeeper come in every two weeks, does the deep cleaning, but we are both, forever, picking up, dusting or cleaning something. Our house stays pretty tidy...especially now that kid is all grown up.

I said other only because I'm not sure if you mean cleaning as in "cleansing" or cleaning as in "tidying". I tidy all day long, every day. I work at home, but when my kids are home from daycare, the house gets torn apart. I let it go, get them to bed, then put everything away. I go to bed with no dishes in the sink, but I may have a pile of folded clothes on my dresser. So I tidy daily, and cleanse probably once a week. Do not eat off of my floors.

Only on a need-to-clean basis, but try to as I go. I admit sometimes it piles up, but not for very long. On occasion I might get in the mood to just clean everything regardless.

I'd like to invite those that love to clean to my apartment where vacuuming happens about once every three weeks.

Not super often. I have often thought about hiring someone to take care of it.

When things get dirty we try to get around to it as soon as possible. Some things are weekly things, like cleaning the bathroom and stuff. Other things are just done as needed.

I have two kids - if I don't clean it daily, it gets nasty. I don't scour daily, but I do PICK UP daily.

Hehe, I am probably the opposite of an intense cleaner. It comes to a time where I would feel everything's really dirty, then clean, then it will probably be another few months before I clean the apartment again.

I do what the kids and I call, ten minute tiddy up's. I set and alarm or I have ten minutes of music on a playlist. and we set it up and spend that ten minutes doing whatever it is we can. I do all the major big stuff- mopping and sweeping twice a week on my days off..

A lot of crazy has been happening in my life, but I generally keep the kitchen spotless, the living room lovely, and my bathroom not-gross. My bedroom is kind of girl-messy (not gross). I'm working on it. I prefer all my rooms to be spotless. I use those Wallflower nightlights because they make me feel safer at night (PTSD crap). Added bonus, they make the house smell and look pretty.

I tidy up daily morning and night, do laundry once a week, dishes loaded in the washer as they are used. I do a full on cleaning of the rooms as needed. Vacuum and clean toilet once/twice weekly. Sheets washed every week-ish. Fresh towels every week.

If company were to come by, I could easily spend 30 minutes and make everything super lovely and presentable.

I'd like to be more on top of things like I was pre-crazy life stuff

But I'm anal. Ha.

I do dishes pretty compulsively, and I take out trash and such whenever it's full. My problem is clutter, stuff that I don't have to take care of quickly to keep it from decaying. I still speed-clean whenever I may have company, though.

I've an OCD sister, who cleans every day, so I've no real need to do it. But if something's very dirty then I'll clean it up immediately.

With pet's in the house it requires more through cleaning. Depends on the time of year and how much we are here. When we do clean, it's pretty intense.

For the record.... I hate cleaning the bathroom!!!

Keeping the house clean enough to not harbour germs and vermin is enough of a goal for me. Life's too short to spend more time than that.

I hate cleaning, but hate the house being a mess too. Right now, I'm too busy to clean on a regular basis myself. We're cleaning this week because we'll have guests this weekend. One of my resolutions for 2012 is to hire a regular maid. That's one of the few things I'd rather pay someone to do than do myself...along with mowing the yard. It's worth avoid all the sneezing (allergies).
