I had my torso waxed once before a beach vacation. Over 4 hours of pain and a bottle of wine later the girl finished me. 3 days of redness and only 6 days before the hair started growing back. Of course I'm sure you will have different results based on what you will be having waxed, but due to the sensitivity of the vagina, I'd prepare for a bit of pain, even if its just momentary.

I've never had it done, but I really want to go Brazilian some day!

Used to get waxed regularly, and recently stopped due to budget restrictions. It's not bad, you might bleed a little. If you're red or irritated, a little bit of triple antibiotic ointment might help you heal faster

Take a pain killer an hour before the procedure...good luck!
12/11/2012
I wanna try! Looks painful though.

I WANNA TRY IT SOMEDAY

never been waxed

I've been waxed, but only my eye brows from a pro. Did home wax a few times. Btw I don't know that it is possible to do a self bikini wax-my pores bled for a while and I was bruised somehow for a week.

No thanks, too painful for me! Never done it and don't think I will. Good luck though!

Yes, I agree. Take an aspirin (or another pain killer).
I suggest trimming the hair to about one half/one quarter inch.
The first wax won't last as long and each wax gets easier because the hair follicle gets more fragile.

Since I get my eyebrows waxes and know how painful and irritating it is, I'd never do my bikini area. I find a razor/trimmer, and some great lotion is better down there. GOOD LUCK!

I've never had anything waxed before! Let us know how it turns out!

I've only had my eyebrows waxed. Good luck, I'm kinda tempted to get my bits waxed but I don't want to be in pain xD

I got my legs waxed once, and I get my eyebrows waxed regularly. If you have sensitive skin, let the person know. Some places have waxes or post-waxing lotions that are better for those with sensitive skin.

Cat E.
I waxed my bikini area a few times many years ago, wasn't the easiest thing, but not the labia nor have I had a professional waxing. I envy those of you who've got the nerve to spread 'em for the stranger who's going to wax you!

The only time I ever tried waxing, I did it myself, and it was so painful, I had to stop. I see why people go and get it done, because doing it to yourself is very daunting. It's like slapping yourself over and over again! Your arm doesn't want to do it. I would have someone else do it for me if I tried it again, but hair remover creams and razors do it for me.

I have never had it done

Never have done it--and the stories really make me think about it. Let us know how it turned out!!

Good luck lol

Out of every single hair removal method I've used (including waxing, sugaring, epilating, depilatories, hair inhibitors, plucking one by one, electrolysis) I have never hated any of them as much as I did waxing. Sorry to say.
It isn't that it hurt per-se, but I found it incredibly messy, annoying, impossible to deal with. It never ever removed more than 40-50% of my hairs downstairs. It always got leftover bits on my skin that caused my damn clothes to glue to my crotch! Also, a lot of them want to wax your behind and that shit is bad! It can really damage your booty. Believe me.
I do have a tip! Have you ever heard of Vaj-j-Visors? If not, you might want to buy one or two if you plan to have professional downstairs waxes. It's just a plastic, somewhat flexible little boat-looking thing that covers your labia. I have a whole bunch of them and would use them when I waxed or tanned or used a depilatory. They're pretty too! Lol. I have pink, green and purple. All lovely. If you want some privacy, they do help and they'll prevent the tearing of your labia. I posted a photo of mine about a year ago online somewhere, so if you search Vaj-J-Visors, you'll see photos somewhere of them.
Anyways, I'm not a fan of waxing for all those reasons and because I found that the hairs grew back just as quickly as shaving! Why me?! Everyone else says when they wax, they don't see hairs for at least a whole week. I'll have them back in hours. And the same goes for epilating. No hair removal keeps me hair-free for longer than a couple days, and only epilating keeps them away for 2 days. But I do prefer it over anything.
Ingrown hairs. I had them so badly when I waxed and they were always getting really inflamed. I also had awful skin problems down there. A lot of rawness and crap. Now that I epilate, I still have a lot of ingrowns, but they never get bad and my skin hardly suffers. I've caused a bloody spot while epilating but nothing else. No matter what though, if you're removing the entire hair follicle (waxing, sugaring, epilating or plucking) you're going to have ingrowns more than if you just shaved.
Now, if you do get ingrowns, they become really easy to deal with. I use the pointy end of my Tweezerman's to scrape and lift the ingrown hairs out. Works like a charm. Also, use a dry brush (or rough wash cloth if you don't have a brush) and use it to exfoliate, rubbing your area in circular motions while in a hot bath. This opens the pores up and always helps the ingrowns to push through! Sometimes I'll epilate myself bald and then go have a hot bath, using a brush or cloth to exfoliate the skin and when I get out of the bath, I'll need to epilate all over again because so many hairs were pushed out from under the skin!
Hair removal has always interested me, and I sometimes even get a little excitement over a bad ingrown hair. When there's 2-3 hairs all stuck under the skin in one spot, now that is entertaining! It's kind of fun to pick and pull them out. Relieving too.
Anyways, best of luck to you! I hope you aren't scared. I don't think waxing hurts all that much at all, but I personally don't love that method for me for the reasons I mentioned. If waxing isn't your cup of tea, I highly recommend epilating! I got my epilator exactly one year ago and it's still running fine. I paid $45 or $47 (can't remember) for it and it came with a pouch, a shaver head that I didn't ever use, but it looks nice, and a charger, and a brush for cleaning. I'm really happy with it too. So that is one option if waxing doesn't work out.
Okay, now it sounds like I'm saying waxing will not work out. Sorry. I don't want to discourage you. A lot of people use waxing as their regular method, and continue doing it for years with no problem. So it really only boils down to your personal prefs, not the pain.
Hope it goes wonderfully! You'll have to update us and tell us how it works.

Yes! I nearly forgot about this, but I once used that damn Nair wax and bruised my entire crotch so badly that it looked horrible. I couldn't believe such a thing could even happen! I took photos too. LOL. I also once left a depilatory on for too long (Veet, damn you Veet!) and it took all the skin off my entire (inner labia and outer, vulva too) crotch. It bled, had leaky clear stuff, pus and then scabbed over in this dark, dark brown color. It was so ugly I cried. Also cried from the pain, but the ugliness looked like I'd been set on fire, literally and I had scars that I thought would never go away. In fact, it was last year sometime that this happened because I freaked so bad that I posted about it here! Lol. I took photos of that little injury too. Hee Hee. I was so shocked by the bruising from waxing and the horribly injury from the Veet that I had to photograph it. No need to look back at those pictures because I've never and will never touch either of those products again! The scars did finally go away though.

I wonder why some people bruise? Strange because I never bruised except the times I'd used Nair brand.

I've never been waxed and I'd be scared to.

I occasionally get my eyebrows done, but too cheap/lazy to do it regularly. I'm a hairy Italian so it looks much better that way.

Never been waxed.
