Llamas are pretty cool creatures, but the llama thing is an age-old internet meme that I brought over from a different community I used to participate in - I've always felt polls were a little on the boring side and so now I add something llama related instead of the ubiquitous "other" option.
It caught on and now others do it, too. So yeah, I guess you could say it's an inside joke, but one without any real meaning. (The truth is always tre boring, eh?)

One of my friends has entitled her LiveJournal since 2006 - "The Hinkypunk Chicken War Chronicles: The Mystery of the Misplaced Llama".
I love the llama thing - it's surreal and cute. And my ex-husband hates them because they remind him of camels, so I like them.

Being from a french speaking area, I have no real idea of what this whole llamas thing is, just saw it in different places on the net. I would like to know more though (like, exactly what it means?), because that expression was a the origin of a very sad misunderstanding between me and an english speaking friend of mine...
