New club idea!

Contributor: ToyTimeTim ToyTimeTim
So talking with the powers that be here at EF we talked about a DIY club. At first we thought a club where we could learn to do easy things around the house would be a great time. After some more discussion we figured it would be even better if we could incorporate sex toys into it as well.

A couple of ideas for toy related topics are easy to make toy boxes or modifying tackle boxes for storage. I also just made a sex machine of sorts that could be done too. Other ideas are things like changing light fixtures in the home or changing your own oil. Basically, anything that most folks might be scared to do for one reason or another.

I would love to hear some feed back and any ideas you may have.

I think this is a great idea!

Most of my girlfriends don't know anything about basic car maintenance which I think is really important or how to fix a toilet (the chain on mine keeps breaking and my boyfriend has rigged up a new one..) for example. Things like that could really benefit anyone and they might not have someone to show them how to do it.

I especially like the DIY storage box and creative toy related crafts as such. I recently found a video posted by Lilac Distraction about making your own toy pouches and I thought that was great! I am going to make some as soon as my exams are done.

That's my idea. Last I checked it cost about $35-40 for an oil change, a person could do it themselves for about 20-25. Only two tools are really needed and once you have them you are set for life.

Lilac's video is just what I was thinking about. I have did a work shop about toy repair, so I figured a club would be even better.

This sounds awesome, but I think that focusing on toy-related ones would make it even better! I'd LOVE to make my own toy boxes, pouches, etc. And even though I might not WANT a sex machine, it sure would be fun to learn how!

I've also been looking for a new club to call home since the book club was disbanded, and this sounds like it'd be a great new addition to the community. You have my thumbs up!

I'm really loving this idea.

I just bought my first car last year and while my dad is pretty familiar with car repairs and maintenance, I have yet to ask him to show me how to change a tire. I wouldn't mind saving a little money on my oil changes either...

This sounds SO very cool. Our local kinky group is getting ready to build our first suspension rig in my backyard.

We're telling my neighbors that we're professional skydivers.

Still, I think this would be a WONDERFUL way to share knowledge about the stuff we know and would like to know!

Great idea TTT!

Cool! I'd join.

Does anyone else use a over the door shoe keeper to hold their sex toys? It is a great way to keep them organized if you don't have children running around.

That sounds like something I'd be interested in using to learn but I doubt I could ever contribute myself. I'm not very handy with anything, really.

I have seen pic's and heard about it a bunch. It is a great idea and could be made pretty cheap too.

Well, that's my idea for this club. To give folks a chance to do something they never thought they could do. If I can teach my 13 year old daughter how to weld I can surely teach you how to change a light fixture or patch a hole in the wall.

I would absolutely love this club! I have been looking for ideas to build a toy box for *ages*. I'm good with basic handy-stuff like oil changes, but it is always good to have people to toss ideas, tips and tricks around with.

And seriously! Toy box! Toy box! Toy box!

Well in that case, it'd be quite useful for me. I'd feel like a free-loader but I guess without people to teach, you wouldn't have a purpose for it, right?

Yup, hit that one on the head! I am always learning new tricks (like a new way to patch drywall) and I would love to share them with folks.

It would take some work but I know it could be done. Folks could even go to a Home Depot or Lowes and have wood cut for them, then all they need is to put it together and stain or paint it.

I hope Gary does not mind me saying this. But he showed me some pic's of a home made humidor that he made out of a cooler. Stuff like that is great and the sense of accomplishment when you are done is better than most drugs. lol

Not at all. Anything you would like to learn how to do for yourself? This could be a place to find out how. Plus, this will be a community club so everyone no matter what their skills are will be welcome.

The ideas you mentioned so far sound awesome. I'd love to make my own toy boxes and what have you. I think I would also like to learn how to make lingerie. I'm a bigger girl and I can't always find stuff that looks good on me. Also, pretty much anything dealing with "real life" would be beneficial to me. I was raised by uninvolved parents and for the longest time, I couldn't even tell you how to fill out a check let along how to change a tire or whatever.

Here is one idea I have, I have been working on this for awhile now.

Yup, home made sex machine. (I tossed the dil on just for the pictures, that's why it looks crooked)
Yesterday I hooked up the drill and gave it a test run. I need to do some adjustments but it worked pretty good. Stuff like this would be fun to do. I know not everyone could make something like this but you just never know.

I am really excited about the toy box idea! my dad used to make fine furniture for a living and he's quite sick-cancer- this looks to be the last year of his life- he turns 64 next week
Anyway I'm going to be spending a lot of time there (we live about 2 hours on land apart) this year and I bet I could spend some quality time in his fancy workshop building boxes. he might even enjoy helping me- what they're for doesn't have to be an issue- i wonder if he'll enjoy teaching me before he passes? He's made me a couple of small boxes as christmas presents, one is fairly simple, the other exquisite. i think I would just need basically bigger versions of those right? I would love to hear what people think need to be included, ideas on what sort of material to line it with- maybe some lush velvet parts and others waterproof- who hasn't ended up with globs of slimy lube at the bottom of a toy box?. If the idea works for those who are interested we could come up with some basic plans that we could share- I'll talk to my dad and look online for plans already inuse for other uses. this excites me cause it could be something really special for my dad and I to do before he dies. THANKYOU!!!

Sorry to hear that he is not doing that well. But it is great you get to spend some time with him. I am willing to bet he would be tickled pink to show you how to work wood. You never know, someday you might take his place and make beautiful pieces yourself.

The possibilities are endless. I figured we could just start with a basic box with a hinged lid. Simple so that folks with little or no experience would make them. After that we could show other ideas that are more involved. I do like the liner idea and a separate box for lubes could be made too, one that holds them upright or something.

I think that a lube box to hold things upright is an awesome idea, especially since it can be used for massage oils, too. Those leak like a @#%^ when you tip them over or toss them in a bag!
