Tonight I was out with a friend and since her son was with us we had to stop and play the Prize Claw Machine! He just loves it and I remember playing it as a kid too. What about you?

In case you're not sure what I'm referring to, the Prize Claw Machine has the glass top filled with stuffed animals and a metal claw or crane at the top that you lower into the pile and try to win a stuffed animal. By me, they're usually found in the exit areas in large stores like Target.

A lot of them are extremely difficult to get anything since the item you need is usually in a very sleek package and heavy and the claw is never very strong.

Oh yes, I used to love those things! I'd always play it at bowling alleys. Back then I could sometimes get something. But now they make the claws really weak, I think it's impossible to pick anything up with them.

Hate them. Partly because they're generally Dollar Store toys, but mostly because many of them are rigged and set so that only a certain number of 'grabs' will hold.

I love those machines. I have tried to stop though. Once I start playing, I get really sucked in, and won't stop.

I went on a date recently and he was trying to win something from it, I told him there was no way he was going to win, So he was set on getting something. He finally won me a little red whale.

They are rigged. They engineer them so the claw does not close fully.

I liked them a lot when I was a kid, seems like they don't ever pick up anything anymore though, so that makes them not fun. I remember once when I was a kid the claw grabbed two toys at once and was able to hold them both. That was probably the coolest moment of my childhood lol.

I still love them! My sister and I worked out a system to win them a lot. Here's what we figured out:

-Pick your target before putting the coins in!
-Look for the plushies that are not packed in or buried under the other. Some machines are easier to win than others because they're not packed in.
-There are mirrors in the back of the machine to throw you off. Have a friend stand to the side of the machine to look from the other angle and tell you if the claw is lined up.
-Get the claw really close to the plushie and do it with technical finesse.
-Grab it!
-Don't waste too much money if you don't get it at first

That's the gist of it. The ones with basketballs and other prizes are usually crappy and hard to win. I'm usually pretty good at the plush toy ones.

I've played those a few times when I was a kid, but I was never crazy about them; I spent most of my time playing pinball in the arcades.

Have a couple of times at a local pancake house won a couple small stuffed animal, mostly by accident. I know someone that works filling them, they intentionally pack those things to make it more difficult to win something.

I like them, but I don't play them as much as when I was a kid. Sometimes I play the guaranteed win machines with the small prizes instead of the normal ones.

I love prize claws. But, I hate when they're loosened too much. To solve the problem, I downloaded the prize claw game on my phone!

I love them! I try to resist them alot lately as it can feel like money wasted but I have won a good few times, the excitement when I win is like that of a kid

Ugh...those evil things. Tempting me with all their soft, cuddly plush toys.
My mom and I both love playing them, but she used to be so good at them it was ridiculous.
She'd put in about two bucks and walk away with about three plushies.
We wound up downloading a prize claw app on her tablet so we wouldn't wind up wasting our quarters on the real deal though. It's pretty fun, although virtual plush toys aren't as nice as real ones. xD
