Should I buy my mom a toy?

Contributor: Falsepast Falsepast
So, my mom finally filed for divorce, and I was wondering what you guys think of this: Should I buy her a toy or not?
I am mature enough to see that she's still a person with needs but what do you think?

PS If anyone has experience buying their family members a toy and having it REJECTED, PLEASE do not hesitate to tell the story in your comment. I wanna see what I may be getting myself into.

I think unless you and your mother have that kind of relationship, it's probably not a really great idea. However, no harm in purchasing a gift card and seeing that it makes it's way into her purse.

I think it's not really a good "gift" per se.

My mom would likely freak out if I did that. I think she sees sex toys as wicked lol. Maybe deep down she understands it, but it would still be sooo odd if I gave her a toy!!

I agree with Stormy, a gift card would be a better idea.

A gift card would be great because then she could use it on the body products if she disapproved of the rest

Or something pretty to make her feel good. Lingerie really does wonders for the soul when it's something you buy just for yourself and not to strut your stuff for other people.

Another vote for the gift card idea. That way she can choose whatever she wants to make herself feel special.

Go with Stormy's idea and get her a gift card, let her choose what she wants.

I think it depends on your relationship with your mother. But I agree, a gift card is probably a better idea.

I think that if you have a good communication and are open on the subject with your mom, it could be nice. I actually bought my mom two toys after I talked about my own toys to her and she had got curious.

If you and your mom are open sexually then I don't see any harm but I would simply get her a gift card or introduce her to Eden an let her create an account an earn points to help get her things she may like. Let us know what you decide an how it goes

I agree. If you've got a comfortable enough relationship with your mom to get her a toy, then perhaps it wouldn't hurt. But a gift card might be even better.

I couldn't imagine getting my mother a toy...but everyone has a different relationship with their mother. I'm going to have to go with a gift card if anything.

It depends on how SHE would feel about you giving her something that personal. I personally feel like it crosses a line between me and my mother. We're close and talk about all kinds of stuff, but we kind of steer clear of actually going into a discussion about each other's sexual preferences/lives. We just tend to stop at the line when it becomes too much. I bought my mom a Smart Wand. That is a fabulous choice since it COULD be used as a clitoral massager, but is so perfectly discreet and will definitely be appreciated as a back/neck and body massager.

I say go with something class, luxurious and decent like the Smart Wand. It will more than likely be something she uses, appreciates and won't make anything awkward between you two.

I would, but my mother is fine with toys and doesn't get freaked out when I get her one.
I'd say it depends on how she feels about toys/how open you two are about sex.

If you do get her one, make sure it would appeal to her likes visually and that the reviews don't point out any bad flaws like it breaking after a week.
If you're open about toys with her maybe try and get a bit of a feel (through conversation) for her preferences if it wouldn't weird you out to do so.

Or just give her an EF gift card like some others mentioned, she could use it on bath&body stuff if she doesn't like toys so it's pretty much fool proof.

Depends on your relationship, but I think this would be crazy awkward for most.

If you guys are open about this stuff, it's a great idea.

Even though my mom and I were not previously open about it, I did tell her it was better to consider investing in toys than getting into another bad relationship. That she should focus on making herself happy in every way right now.

No, don't buy her a toy. Perhaps give her an Eden gift card.

I agree with those that say a gift card would be much more appropriate. Since the site also sells bath/body items and lingerie a giftcard doesn't scream, "hey mom, here is a dildo!" quite so much

Totally agree with getting a gift card! How sweet of you to think of your mom like that!
