Which would you rather find in your hotel room: the Bible or Fifty Shades of Grey?

Contributor: Petite Valentine Petite Valentine
A British innkeeper of the Damson Dene Hotel in England has decided to swap out the standard side table copy of the Gideon Bible, with E L James opus, Fifty Shades of Grey.

You can read about it *here*, *here, or *here*.

If checking into a hotel room, which of those two books would you rather find waiting for you?

(* other is deliberately not a choice )

Sorry...would have chosen "OTHER", but GREY does NOTHING for me. Not into any of that.

Not into either but I would choose the Bible over 50

That's a good question!

The bible. I like to analyze the passages to piss off my over religious family members.

50 Shades or anything like it should be at the front desk or the little kiosk they have with the tooth brushes.

There is nothing appealing about 50 Shades, but if it gets them to take the bibles out of the hotel rooms...

Bible. Don't care much for Fifty Shades of Grey. Silly book.

I'm not going to read either one; I bring my own books on trips.

Not familiar with 50 so I'll pick the bible even though I will not read it.

I'm annoyed with both, but I'd rather see 50 shades of grey.

If I'm bored, I'll sometimes flip open the Bible in a hotel room just to see what people write in the margins. One can find some interesting thoughts.

Neither - I don't have time to read anything when I stay at a hotel. I don't spend much time in the room, and I'm too tired to do any reading when I return to the hotel at night.

I would say 50 shades

Other definitely would have been my choice, but of those two, definitely The Bible. I haven't read 50 Shades of Grey, so maybe I shouldn't judge, but what I've heard about it makes me think the relationship is more abusive than dom/sub-based, and I can't STAND abuse being romanticized/eroticize d.

Considering that the copies of the Bible were left there by members of Gideon International, basically as complimentary gifts vs. some guy going out and buying a bunch of "dirty" books that glorify an abusive relationship as a gimmick?

I'm going with the Bible.

Definitely Fifty Shades of Grey, because if I was bored and looking for something to do it's something that I would actually read.

Sorry Christians. Sorry 50 Shades fans. I wouldn't waste my time with either.

Then again, the individuals who wrote the books of the Bible were much better writers than E.L. James.

HA! Not really. The Bible is one of the worst pieces of fiction I've personally read in my lifetime. Inventive, but cruddy writing.

The Bible for many reasons and I really don't like 50 Shades!

I'd choose the Bible, it's far less problematic than 50 Shades.
