No I don't get embarassed. I am on high alert though. There are some super creepy people in my neighborhood.

i went for the first time last month and i was a little scared not embarrassed because i didn't want to see any one i knew there ,but me and my friend started to get comfortable after a few minutes of being in there. But then again you have to think everyone else is there looking at the same thing so no need to feel embarrassed.

I used to, but when I figured out that I knew more than a lot of the people working in some of the shops, I was a lot less embarrassed. Last time I was in one I took my sister to embarrass her, and after talking with the lady who worked there, was told that if I lived in the area, I'd have a job if I wanted it, lol.

It depends on the store. There an awesome shop in our area that's women owned. It's a very nice place to shop.

Nope, not at all. Sometimes I get creeped out by the guy behind the counter but I never feel embarrassed

Not at all. I'm in there for the same reason as everyone else. I think I might be embarrassed if I ran into someone I knew, unless it was a close friend.

Not at all. Although sometimes it's creepy having the store people stare the whole time I'm in there, but I'm not embarrassed about it.

No, I've always enjoyed it actually. I find that if the staff are open you can get into some awesome conversations with them regarding toys and what not.

No I don't. When I lived in N.Y. I would visit the local shop often and the manager guy knew me pretty well. Its funny the looks men give a woman when she goes into an adult store.

Not since Eden.

I think it's a familiarity thing. Plus, I feel good when I educate the staff on the difference between CalEx and Topco, Tantus and Pipedream, then I know someone will benefit from it.

I've actually recommended Eden to the staff at a couple different places.

Not at all. Nothing's wrong with wanting to explore your sexuality and experience new things.

I used to not be too embarrassed when I was younger (?!), but I've grown more uptight. I don't think it is a bad thing, really. I've refined my tastes?

One of my main issues with sex toy stores where I live has always been how dingy and garish they are. I feel dirty when I go into one--not exactly because I'm looking at sex toys. At least plant some flowers out front! Even the tattoo shops do that here! I take it that the sex shops here are aimed more at men, but my male friends have always been even more uncomfortable than me. I don't know how much it costs to operate such places. But I suspect that if they simply made them look less dingy and garish, they'd get a larger variety of shoppers.

I was the first time I went into one, but not anymore. The main one I've been into the people are so, so friendly and awesome.

Not embarrassed.. If anything, I know I get easily overwhelmed with all the toys/videos/..things on display. They are usually so bright and plentiful that I get totally overwhelmed, which then makes me anxious.

I couldn't care less that there are other people there lol

I don't get embarrassed. However, I do find that many of the people behind the counter at my local sex shop are the type of fresh out of high school youngens who get more of a snicker out of adult toys than an appreciation for them. Like an "Oh, I'm cool cause I work at the porn store but don't know anything about anything except sex is funny." type of attitude. Lol. And that certainly doesn't help the customer.

I think in many cases, a lot of it has to do with who's behind the counter. Whether they're friendly, creepy, helpful, or immature, etc...

I don't shop in the stores anymore. We don't have any that aren't trashy. Also, I even gave up on the tiny aisle at Spencer's because the teen boys stand beside you at the vibes and laugh and then talk about you! I don't like that, not because it's embarrassing, but because it makes me feel somewhat violated when they do that. Lol. I just mind my own business. I don't watch what others are looking at or buying. I never stared when I would go into those stores because I didn't want to make people uncomfortable. To me, I do better online shopping. I trust the online companies that I'm familiar with much more than the shops.

I'm always a little uncomfortable and usually go with another person. There are usually some *unique people lurking around the porn section and I'm always worried my family or friends will see my car in the parking lot.

I wish the sex store near me was that great! Ours mostly has novelty toys, no hypoallergenic lubes or even batteries! I'm so jealous

No, I work there. And I try realllly hard to make everyone who comes into my shop feel normal and welcome. I greet them, ask them how they are and if they need any help as if it were any other retail store. A lot of people shy away from asking questions, but if I overhear them wondering aloud about any products I generally jump in and offer a tidbit of info and/or offer to show them the product with batteries in. People are usually pretty surprised about how open and non-judgmental the atmosphere is and often end up asking me a ton of questions once they realize they can. It's very cool, I love my job

I would be completely embarrassed to go into any of the sex shops in my area because they are seedy and so are the people I see frequenting them. Also, I would be afraid to run into one of my clients at one of them - they already inappropriate with me and I'm sure it would just exacerbate the problem.

No but my boyfriend did the other day when we went into one. I don't see the big deal. We're humans and sex is in our nature Plus I'm pretty sure the people working there are not judging you.

When we had a sex toy in a nearby town before it was shut down, I didn't feel any embarrassment going in.

The first time? Hell yes. I was 18 and still a virgin. Now, I haul my friends with me and we check out everything and just have a blast. There is usually copious mocking of the more horrific cheap toys and threats of beatings with double ended jelly dongs. Fun times.
