While it isn't fleshed out fully yet, Apple has actually given approval for the Naughty Cities app to be available in the iTunes store (Android offers this as well). Surprising, since the iTunes App store has a no porn policy!

It's free (at least for now), and provides listings for currently just 2 cities, London and New York, although more cities are likely on the way. Categories will include strip clubs, swing clubs, escorts, erotic massage, sex shops, gay, and fetish.

Is this an app you'd put on your phone? Why or why not?

I might put it on the iPad when we are going to a city that has listings, then take it off the rest of the time. I would not want to leave it on as the kids might pick up the ipad and find it.

Would I love to? Yes. Does my day job employer pay for my cell phone and see every app I download? Yes. Not a good idea for me.

I am able to use Google to that effect already, and most cities I spend time in I've already pretty thoroughly scoped out.

I hope the extra visibility that places like that would receive via a very publicized app wouldn't make them more vulnerable to picketing, in parts of the country where picketing happens. I actually wouldn't be surprised if lots of businesses opted out of appearing in the app to avoid being 'outed' in more closed-minded communities.

We have no need for it, but HEY...for those who do, why not? Like everything else now..."there is an APP for that"!!! Beats the heck out of guide books.

I think it's pretty stupid and potentially a hazard to those types of places. I mean massage parlors with happy endings are illegal, here. It'd be pretty brazen of someone to release something like that and not expect every place on the list to be raided or at least investigated.

Maybe if I had a smart phone!

Really though, I agree with Sapphire Storm. How can you give out the info of organizations like massage parlors safely? Do they have to consent to being shown on the app? Even legal places like BDSM clubs don't necessarily want their information to be easy to find.

Apart from the fact that I don't have a smartphone, I don't think I'd want it. What use would I have for it? I don't go to strip clubs anymore, I don't swing, use hookers or get massages, and I have EF for a sex shop. I wouldn't need this.

The only two categories that catch my eye are sex shops and fetish. And the sex shop doesn't matter, since I only shop here and from Liberator. It is a cool idea, but I wouldn't get it.
