Making something legal has a few advantages:
1) you can enforce industry standards, making it safer for workers
2) there is a set minimum wage if it is a recognized and legal occupation
3) there should be more accountability for people who abuse workers
4) by taking away some of the mystique, it makes the entire industry seem more open and accessible, which will hopefully attract fewer crazies and better quality clientele for the people who work in this industry.
Why shouldn't people who make a living this way be entitled to a better, safer, working environment, and the same rights as other people who work in dangerous (but more conventional) jobs?
I don't care what your moral stance on the issue is, but people deserve to be treated well and no one should have to work in sub-standard conditions where abuse can take place. That's just my two-cents...

Not sure. I think yes, but then I'm torn.

You can sell EVERYTHING else you own or are--even your thoughts---why not your body????
11/04/2012
Yes, it should be legalized.
11/04/2012
Yes it should.

Legalize it. There are so many benefits to doing so.
11/05/2012
Yes, if it can be regulated to protect those who need protecting.

Making it legal also makes it something the government can tax, would reduce the number of prostitutes in custody (our detention facilities are overcrowded as it is), and would increase wages for the prostitutes, all of which is good for our economy!
11/05/2012
i dont know
11/05/2012
I think that it should. They could tax it and make money to ease the citizens.
11/05/2012
I think it should be. It would be safer.
11/05/2012
It is not for me but I say make it legal and tax the crap out of it.

I would advocate for legalized and licensed sex work. I think a major issue would be to make legal and safe prostitution profitable enough to wipe out traffickers. I do believe that consenting adults should have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, including whether they want to engage in sex work, but my big concern is that many lower-income sex workers are not engaging in prostitution out of choice but out of a lack of alternatives. So my vote to legalized is qualified by saying that it would need to be implemented with a lot of social programs in place to help people "get out" of prostitution if they are not engaging in it of their own free will.

If it's legal, the people involved are safer. That's all that counts from a government perspective, in my opinion. People can argue about morality all they want, but morality is personal, and not the job of the government.

everyone prostitutes at one form or another. so yes it should eb lagal

I live in a country where it is legal. Prostitutes may even get gouvermental health insurance.
One problem is still the bad situation of the women, many are illegal immigrants with no rights.

Yes!! There should be regular testing and record keeping. Less abuse to the workers.

If it were legal, we could help the economy (Tax it), create more jobs (Having sex for money, anybody could do that!), AND take the business away from the black market where those girls aren't usually treated very nicely. In my personal opinion, i think it should be legalized.

I Think That It Should Be Legalized, People Are Going To Do It Either Way, So Why Not Make A Legitimate Job Out Of It?
