Right now realistic tones freak me out, it's like having a relationship with a zombie...but maybe once I've used more of a variety I would be more comfortable with flesh tones :p

I like colored ones because to me, a dildo is something that adds to sex, it shouldn't replace it. So I don't buy a flesh colored dildo because the only 'flesh' one I want is the real thing. That's also why I don't buy realistic ones. Plus, the realistic ones are kind of creepy sometimes.

I don't think it really matters but I can say I was hesitant at first about the realistic. I felt it as if you want real then go get it. But cmon on the otherhand who can turn down a brightly colored dildo, they just draw you in.

Colors! I've said before but given the choice I will always pick green or orange before anything else. Flesh colored, highly realistic dildos... creep me out.
Of course, this leads to an occasional strange fascination... I have a couple of highly realistic ones on my wishlist, because of that strangely sadistic fascination with the idea of a disembodied body part.
Otherwise though, most of the time it really squicks the heck out of me and I want things to look as not-realistic as possible. That's why my initial toys included a handmade wood toy, and a bunch of LELO... none of them were even close to realistic and LELO has a lot of great bright colors! Green! Orange! <3 I'm now expanding my collection to include some Tantus copper and midnight purple.
I think a neon colored, but highly realistic dildo would be the most hilarious thing ever. Bring on the lime green Vixskin!

Colors seem to draw everyone in, even me. I rarely buy anything that isn't glass... but all my dildos are usually like blue, pink or purple. I have one flesh tone dong but I haven't used it in ages. I think I only used it twice?
But for some reason, flesh tones seem really sexy at times. Like when your man is away and you just want to feel like there is an actual cock inside of you. They also offer more realistic textures.
