You forgot to put a "I've done it" and...

I have been there and I went on 3 blind dates from internet date. Two of the three were horrible! I don't think I would ever do the internet dating thing again, if I was single.

Tried it a few times. Some lost interest just by chatting, one I met and thought we had something going but all he wanted was a one-night stand ...

Currently involved with a higher quality gentleman who flew from England to meet me and we hit it off incredibly well to the point of knowing this is nothing we've ever experienced before ... at any rate, he's my Master and we can't wait for the day we can spend more time together instead of scheduling everything around my college schooling.

Summary - hit or miss.

EDIT: I did write a pretty funny article on which photos NOT to use on a dating profile. I might send it in to Eden Cafe as a humor piece.

I've done it a few times. Met a couple of pushy guys who wanted unprotected sex immediately (??), but you can leave them behind without losing anything. Met a couple of stellar boyfriends, too (including my current one). And a good handful of interesting people to chat with from too far away to date---there's no harm in learning something from people you've got interests in common with, even if you're not going to date them.

As long as you can brace yourself enough to ignore the freaks, internet dating sites can be pretty worthwhile.

i get nervous about dating sites, you know reading the news and such - they always make it sound so super scary - but i've met some awesome ppl from social networking sites so dating sites CANNOT be as bad as news paints them to be.

I always find it easier to get to know people and them to know me online before meeting in person so they know who I actually am.
In person I'm very withdrawn under I get to know someone and in a lot of cases, people aren't willing to give you the time of day if you're not just instantly open.

BUT, once I was comfy with the person, I wouldn't want it to stay as an online thing if it was suppose to be serious. I need physical contact. For me, online guys are just some harmless fun.

If I knew I was going to get to see/meet the person offline also then yes. I don't see why not.

I've used a few different singles sites. Have found men that I was really hitting it off with, but then they would suddenly stop talking to me. Another guy I met online and we started talking a lot on the phone. He wanted phone sex and eventually chose this other girl over me.

I tell everyone to be careful and not to expect the best. Have had wayyyy too many bad experiences.

I did meet my first love online, but we didn't date until we met 4 years later.

I did it. I met a lot of cool people (and some creeps, but that's why you meet in a public place, so you can ditch them!). Eventually, I met a really cool person and 3 years later I married him.

Been there, done that. It forces a lot more communication than regular conversation, I consider it a perk of technology. You get to know people a lot more outside the means of just calling them from your home phone, to their home phone, when you are both available. Cell phones, e-mail, texting... changes future dating forever!
