It means... Either your ex is sentimental and comfortable enough with you to do that, or he's a jerk trying to string you along with sweet gestures.

I personally only see it as a sentimental or friendly thing. I have male friend who has kissed me on the forehead,cheek or the top of my head if they are much taller then I am.

I think it means you're looking for vagueness, but the situation seems pretty clear (Edit: sorry, that sounded harsh! meant well). Forehead kisses are platonic and not a mixed message.

Distance from an ex you're still hung up on is always a healthy thing.

I agree that it's a platonic thing. My male friends, and even a few male exes, give me kisses on the forehead every time I see them. I wouldn't read too much into this.
