Mine was a plug. Definitely a good starter, and a good buy. Prolly not listed on this site though

Mine was a multipurpose, angled silicone dildo of average length and circumference. I can never recommend the Tantus Acute enough to beginners of any kind.
My first "dedicated" anal toy was the Tantus Ryder. It's a great first plug, though the lack of pointed taper might deter some.

I don't regret buying either of them.
