For the real thing, I'd say I'd be good with pretty much any girth but would prefer 1.5" and up.

My wife likes the Vixskin Johnny & Maverick the most - so I voted 1.75"-2". But they are soft and that allows for more girth than a similar sized metal or glass toy. She claims that Johnny feels the same as me - but it's larger, she maybe just trying to make me feel better - but I don't mind that she likes larger toys.

It really depends on what sensation is craved in the moment. Sometimes size matters, and other times it's all about the motion, or the shape. A full feeling is good, but so is the ability to reach sensitive spots with more pinpoint stimulation.
