I actually use lip balm that I make myself. But isn't chapstick lip balm?

I always thought they were the same thing. Granted, yes, Chapstick is technically a brand, but it's one of those things that has become synonymous for the item in question. Like Band-Aid is a brand of adhesive bandages, but everyone just refers to them as band-aids.

Typically a balm. Chapstick is just a brand and it's not as good as balms. I find the seasonal sticks at Kohl's, those balms to be really helpful for dry lips and they're not even medicated. They're just supposed to be fun little things for the kids, but they work great! So, I always vote: balms.

I kinda consider them the same thing whether they come in a pot or a tube. I prefer a tube but I'll use it from a pot. I love the Double Dipped balm that Eden sells by Not Soap Radio.

balm. My favorite is the Palmer's Cocoa Butter stick that comes in the large glue-stick style tube. awesome product.

I use chapstick exclusively. I actually was using an off-brand one for the last year or two but I recently switched back to actual ChapStick brand chapstick and it's WONDERFUL. Like heaven in my mouth.
