What do you do with your older/obsolete/bottom of the drawer toys?

Contributor: JustYourAverageGuy JustYourAverageGuy
So I was wondering what is the appropriate way to handle older toys that you are no longer using or have been replaced by bigger and better.... I do realize that some toys may have a lot of life left in them and are 100% safe like NJoy steel toys or Silicone toys which can be sterilized.

But is it still appropriate/acceptable to pass these toys on used, even if safe or is that just wierd and/or wrong? I would love to hear your opinions on any sort of situation or "what if" scenarios!

I am sure a lot of people here have some toys they haven't used in along time and have no real use for them, so I hope I am not the only one with this "problem"!

If anyone has sold toys, how do you go about it and what type of response do you get? How much of a "discount" do you offer?

I'd be happy to pass them on via Toyswap, but not any other site. I'd want to share with trusted people who don't have creepy voodoo plans up their sleeves for my toys!

You can recycle them actually! Check out this link for more info: link

Other than that, I personally keep my toys around.. I haven't figured out what to do with them other than let them sit around in a drawer. My roommate wanted one of my dildos that I no longer wanted but it was a material that couldn't be sterilized and even if she used a condom with it, I wouldn't be comfortable passing something like that on even though I don't use it anymore..

I know some people here (like the previous poster mentioned) swap toys that can be sterilized.

I also throw them out. I feel uncomfortable passing them on. My stainless steel and glass toys are mine to keep and enjoy so recycling is not an issue.

I picked all three of the top options because depending on the toy is depending on what I'll do with it.

There are certain toys that I'm pretty sure no one would want [just because they aren't good and get really bad reviews overall]. So those sit around gathering dust. I have no idea why I won't throw them out, I just won't.

If a friend wanted one that I wasn't using or didn't like, I'd give it to them no problem. Even if it was a non sterilizable toy as long as they knew to use it with a condom/knew the risks. I know that's 'bad' but quiet frankly, I don't have any stds and some of the toys that I don't use/like are expensive so my friends probs wouldn't care.

I do belong to the toyswap network, and this is my preferred method of 'disposal'. I only list sterilizable toys there though, because that is what is commonly acceptable there.

For materials that can be sterilized (or were used only with a condom for reviewing), I give a close friend first dibs, then Toyswap the rest. If it can't be sterilized, it goes into the trash.

I would only consider swapping or selling sex toys which can be sterilized such as Phallix or Tantus products. Just for your info "ebay" does have an adult only section which might be a good option you. I do like the recycling option for toys as well.

I toy swap, but I will only swap silicone/metal/glass/c eramic/Nobessence insertables as either the giver or receiver. I have given toys made of elastomer to close friends before, but again, never anything that is used for penetration. Otherwise, I will throw things out (rather, recycle).

We have a few friends that we pass the things that can be sterilized on to. The rest we either find some crazy joke thing to do with or throw away.

That site has come up a lot and it always confuses me. There's no information about where these receptacles even are, and this online store of theirs has been "coming soon" for a while.

There used to be another toy recycling site that actually had an online store, but it's nowhere to be found now. recyclemysextoys.com. I don't know if they maybe went out of business or what.

For now I'm holding onto my sex toys I never use until I can find a company that will recycle them for me. None of mine would be eligible for Toy Swap. In the past (before I knew better) I would throw them in the trash.

I've owned many different dildos over the years but every so often my husband (who is responsible for purchasing most of these dildos) makes one too many jokes about my dildos and I'll end up throwing them all out. I've done it at least two or three times now. So dildos don't last forever here and little vibrators always get lost.

recyleyoursextoy.com maybe? They have an online store. I think when you ship them your old toys they send you a gift card.

I tend to hang on to them, or unless a best friend wants them. A lot of times I've only used my toys that I didn't care for only once. The rest, I use until they break, then I throw them away unless I can tear it apart and figure out how to repair it

I usually keep them around - I keep trying to convince myself that I can get some use out of them. However, my master plan is to give them away to anyone with the guts to ask once I become more open about the whole sex toy reviewing thing.

It really just depends on the toy. If it's able to be sterilized of properly, I include it the swap party I have. Otherwise, it's recycled if possible or just thrown away. I think of being in that position if someone gave me something that wasn't sterilized, I would feel a bit of disgust.

I didn't realize people sold used toys. I wouldn't. I'm too lazy to sell anything on the internet and I'd rather not swap with friends...if they had any toys. Most of my friends are basement nerds who'd die from embarrassment after seeing my toys. ? Heheh. When I'm done with mine, I am hesitant to throw them out. I grow too fond of inanimate objects. But eventually I will when they aren't looking so good, broken. I've considered turning dildos into "art".

I do not think I would ever be comfortable buying or selling used toys. It's just too strange for me. I'd be too worried about the hygiene factor.

I definately wouldnt pass them along. Generally I cant bring myself to throw any out ... unless I purchase one that has a really strong chemical odor that I cant stand ... then I just throw it out.
