Depends on the person. My kids get electronics mostly. 1 friend will get something from here, another only gets bath and body products since that's what she prefers.

I try to give people something they want or that they'd like. Some people are impossible to buy for and I just give them gift cards.

I tend to buy people things they need (as opposed to things they want-- I buy those after the needs are out of the way) but gift cards are always a good option, too.

Depends on who I'm giving things to! For my friends it's usually small fun things or maybe some sort of clothing. For family I try to put together gift baskets of small stuff like treats, handmade things, jewelry, etc. Last year I got my dad video games because my partner worked at a game store, that was so handy for christmas time!

I was just reflecting on gifts I've given/received over the years. I give a lot of gift cards, too many probably, as well as books, jewelry and clothes.
When I was a kid, books were usually my favorite gift. Gift certificates always seemed like the giver was taking the lazy way out--but oddly, I've always LOVED receiving cash--go figure!

If I'm giving you a gift at all, we're probably pretty good friends, and if we're pretty good friends I'll probably make you something myself and put a lot of effort into it, and make it about something I know you super like/ maybe a small detail I remember you once said you wanted, and go from there

It really depends. I'll get games or electronics for my fellow geeks sometimes and other times, I might get something totally different. It really depends on what catches my eye while I'm gift shopping. Sometimes a gift just hits me as perfect for one person or another.

For my family, I try to get them things they will use, like kitchen towels or a book. Kind of boring, but I think it's better than getting them something interesting but impractical like crazy kitchen tools they will never use.
