Help me figure out what size I am supposed to get ...

Contributor: Breas Breas 11/14/2011

So usually if there is a size XL, that is what I get, and if its true to size, it fits me perfectly. This morning I was looking at a few pieces that offer size L or sz 1x/2x ....

I am wondering if I should just go with the sz L , or should I pick the 1x/2x?

I know this is lame that I am not sure about this but... 1x just means extra large right? So 1x=XL?

Size large tends to grab areas I don't want being grabbed, and I know a 2x would be too baggy on me... Should I just skip the products that don't offer sz XL? I really would prefer not to do that because there are a few that I like that only have these sizing options available..

Also, I could check the sizing charts for the certain brands, but most of the time the lingerie doesnt run true to size.

Thanks for any advice!

Depends on the brand. Start with the sizing chart for that brand and then if there are any reviews read those. Most will tell you if the sizing chart is accurate. If you're in the middle or beginning of the size range, you should be safe ordering that size. If you're on the end of the size range, most people suggest ordering a size up.

You should ask beck as well. She's really good with lingerie and sizing.

I say read the reviews! A lot of the time they post their sizing and how it fits! If not, you can always message them and ask!

I also have a tricky time with sizing as I have larger thighs but a smaller waist so I tend to go with the 1X which is a plus size not one size larger than large, it is one extra large not XL. I would also contact the company to ensure that you can get the size right or at least be able to return it if it is the wrong size.

Check the size chart. But if you're usually a 1x, then the 1x/2x size would most likely fit you.
Reviews help like Ryuson said too.

Thank you for that clarification! I've wondered about that (the sizing) but most things I buy are offered in size XL so when I seen 1x/2x I assumed that was xl/xxl!

I've had this problem as well and I can tell you with certainty that I usually wear an XL and most of the lingerie offered runs small. It is best to look at the size charts offered on each different brand as they vastly differ. Then measure your body. If the piece is supposed to be loose fitting go with the size your measurements match. If the piece is form fitting, get the next size up. Stretchablity of the fabric also factors in. You really have to study each aspect of each piece before you can be certain, and sometimes it's still a miss. Luckily, Eden has a great return policy, and you can have the size you need within a week of returning or faster!

I'd read the sizing chart first

Reading reviews is going to be your best bet, since sizing runs differently even among different items from the same brand.

I am usually XL as well and I go with the 1x2x when it is like this, I have thought about getting the large, because sometimes the 1x2x is too large. But I would rather have something a little big than too small and have to send it back and wait for another one.

I have this issue a lot. I usually go with the 1x2x, but then sometimes it doesn't fit my breasts (too big, especially if it has cups)...so now after some trial and error, I just look at the item, the brand's size chart and read the reviews and make my best guess. If it's fitted everywhere, I tend to go with the 1x2x, if it's a babydoll or a chemise that looks like it's loose in the stomach/hips, I will go with the L. If it's a little too big, I can always break out the sewing machine and tighten it up myself too depending on what it is.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I ordered the 1x/2x (by the way, there were no reviews on the item, or I would have read them obviously ), but it's far too large in certain areas- under the arm pits, and the chest area was made for much larger breasts then mine so it kinda... sags a bit lol...I guess I'll need to just ignore the lingerie that doesn't offer the sz XL, no matter how pretty it is.. I don't want the lingerie to be too tight on me where it is uncomfortable, but I also don't want certain areas of my body swimming in it. Thanks again everyone for the help!

XL does not = 1x. I used to wear an XL in my early years of H.S. I never wore a 1x. XL is usually size 12-14 where 1x is 16-18 I believe. I wore a 12 at the time and 1x was way far off.
